Alcohol sales ban!
Re: Alcohol sales ban!
It's gone eerily quiet... apart from the desperate few on the cusp of the DT's, white-knuckling it on the back of their SWMBO's crotch-rocket as they race to the nearest mom n pop or 7 to get some in.
"Leio-leio cha!" they call while thinking, "Hurry up you dopey cow... you'll get a right good kicking if the Archa's out!"
You know who you are.

Re: Alcohol sales ban!
Just back from the Thai Supermarket in Nong Mek. Absolutely rammed with Thais buying for the smaller village shops around our area. No price gouging, a box of Chang still 580 Baht, big Lao Khow (for FIL) 100 Baht and bottle of Sang Som 275 Baht. Owners wife saying only stop selling on Wednesday for Big Buddha day. If you are being charged more than normal then after the initial panic buying you know who to boycott.Doodoo wrote: ↑May 2, 2020, 8:38 pmSorry Papa The head Tamala inBangkok seems to rule eveything the Governors play after he sets the rules

Re: Alcohol sales ban!
Half a dozen BIB and army in Tesco Kut Chap making sure no sales before 11:00 AM. No crowds
I had a bumper sticker in Texas that read 'Beam me up Scotty'. I often wish I could find one in Udon Thani
Re: Alcohol sales ban!
Wife needed to restock shop. Some horrendous queues (one saw vehicles triple parked opposite St. Mary's, leaving only one lane clear). Couldn't get Lao khao anywhere. Customers are very unhappy - may need to hire some muscle.
Re: Alcohol sales ban!
Tesco Express Nong Sam Rong. Shop empty!
Bought 3 litres 285 plenty left!
Merry Sunday everybody! and a happy New year!

Re: Alcohol sales ban!
DM has decided (on another thread) that beer runs are non-essential.

Can just hear all the "tea totelers and social engineers" up in arms again = love it.Bandung_Dero wrote: Agreed, TW has been a trooper going up to 6 villages away to keep me supplied with beer through all this BS. OK I did pay 680 Baht for a box of Leo (normally pay 600, Chang 585) earlier in the week but that was to be expected!
One thing for sure and certain, these morons will NEVER catch me out again. I have cleaned out a secure area and fully intend to maintain at least a one month buffer permanently!
Just bought 10 boxes of my beer and now have 12+ in stock. Let these brain dead morons proceed. Effin useless generals in the pockets of the true and trusted business people here. OK, not so squeaky clean 555555. Let the games continue!

Re: Alcohol sales ban!
I do worry about some of the bright ideas BD
Given that everyone seems to have been able to re stock their supplies throughout the "ban" without too much difficulty, the only thing it seems to have achieved is to stop gatherings outside ma/pa shops (and I'm assuming they continued in someones house/garden instead) and inconvenience some tourists who didn't realise that TIT and laws were made to be circumnavigated. Surely it would have been just as easy to say you can buy alcohol but cant consume it in public, it would have had exactly the same result without the confusion

Seems civilized
you should have watched the dunny roll panic of Feb 2020 in Oz
partaking would require balls of steel
after those days I think the Oz gov to scared to ban alcohol

Re: Alcohol sales ban!
What have idiot horders got to do with banning alcohol in Australia???
Gov was not scared to ban alcohol, it was never a policy in the first place.

Re: Alcohol sales ban!
My mate who was quarantined on his return to Perth said they apparently did have purchase quantity restrictions in WA for a spell but no outright bans.

Re: Alcohol sales ban!
I was not saying there was a the ban in Oz, what was spoken about was the panic buying
As i posted yesterday I did a beer run
that was in Kut Chap
I arrived at 11am the shop was packed
So my quess they were selling before 11am as trucks were already loaded up
and the boss had lots of reciepts in hand as he supervized the loading of trucks
The staff were already hot and sweaty by then
So I very much doubt that your story of the cops or army stopping Tesco selling early
As I know for a fact Tesco tills are run on a timer and alcohol cant be rang up before 11am nor between 2pm and 5pm
So keep your own stories straight

Re: Alcohol sales ban!
Yes well said most major Supermarkets including 7-11 's have programmed their Tills not accept Alcohol sales until the right time. However the So-called wholesalers do not , so loading up prior to 1100 hours is possible I presume.
