Am hearing that
Saturday 27th March is a no alcohol day due to local elections, bars can reopen for service at 18:00 on Sunday 28th.

Just been to the country bar and she told me she is selling till 6pm saturday and closing 6pm saturday till 6pm sunday

The hoardings announcing the elections have been up for over 6 weeks already. The pickups crawling around with signboards and loud, annoying tanoy's have been busy for the past 3 weeks or so.

Yes normal rules, bars shut the night before, so that VOTERS are not drunk the following morning, well that is what they ( Thai Electoral Commission ) want.

A number of public holidays in Thailand over this weekend and beyond will result in nationwide alcohol bans.
The first of the holidays officially starts on Saturday, July 24 and Sunday July 25 for Asarnha Bucha Day and Khao Phansa (the start of Buddhist Lent), respectively.
As both are major religious holidays, the sale of alcohol is banned by law across the throughout Thailand . Because of this, the alcohol ban will start at 00:01am Saturday (July 24) and conclude at midnight Sunday night (23:59pm July 25).
