I have no doubt Thailand will sensibly follow this commonsense approach (grins)
I had a bumper sticker in Texas that read 'Beam me up Scotty'. I often wish I could find one in Udon Thani

The news article says that "investors or representatives of foreign organizations that make legal investments in Vietnam will be allowed to have their purpose of visit switched during their stay in the country." and "Family members of invitees will also enjoy the same advantage."

Foreigners have the ability to change their visa status in Thailand already. Visa-exempt, ED, SETV and METV can be changed to a Non-O for long-stay. They can also switch to Elite with at least one property developer also offering this type of visa with the purchase of a condo here. There's also some BOI privileges that extend to immigration status.

What exactly does Thailand have to "sensibly follow" here?
