Don't forget "Mother Nature" its only `12,800 years since the world was bombarded by asteroids that bought an end to the ice age, that was not a "one off" add the sun & solar induced brownouts, the more people rely on their gadgets, the more they will be shocked WHEN something happens, it will be total chaos!
Incorrect information ..... first, the evidence for a bombardment 12,800 years ago is disputed. Second, the Ice age had already ended thousands of years before. The climate change that did happen was the start of the Younger Dryas, a period when the temperature abruptly declined by up to 6 degrees for about 800 years.

The cause of the Younger Dryas is believed to be the emptying of Lake Agassiz, a massive glacial lake on the Canadian border which was fed by the retreating ice sheets. The huge influx of cold, fresh water disrupted ocean currents and prevented warm tropical water from getting to Northern latitudes.

I reckon pondering the last reported earth thrashing by asteroids is pushing the OP's intended 'memories' recollections a tad too far.

Bumping this one as I am sure there's a few more of us suffering from flashbacks when some unexpected visual stimulus or 'trigger' happens. For me, it was the stunning Osaka Cake promo pretty at Carrefour in Pattaya. I mean just how many osaka cream cakes does one have really have to buy in order to get a girl's phone number?

Vaguely... or maybe it's the good old days when tam could make a can opener work?

The only issue I have with corned beef cans is usually the price.
