I renewed my licence last week in central plaza, 3rd licence, out of date by over 7 months, no problems.

Handed copy of my passport, photo page and visa page.
Copy of my work permit
Watched a 1 hour video.
Afterwards they took a photo and 5 minutes later had my new licence. 505baht.
Whole process just over an hour
What time did you arrive ?

... Any office that doesn’t follow the rules that are clearly laid out in both Thai and English are breaking them...
You're kidding right? Just because something is written, published and gazetted as the law, rule or procedure here, doesn't mean a bloody thing. When it comes to bureaucratic whim, in Thailand it all means nothing.

Get over yourself. Disinformation? Timmy only said he "thought" it was a 90-day window, he never said that it definitely was a 90-day window.

No need to respond thecroc4 , I’ve just read through some previous posts which are very informative.

Checked in at the DL shop in Central a little before 11. Surrendered the old license and copies of passport data page, Non-O visa page, yellow book and ID card. Aced the three tests (reaction, color blindness and depth perception). Watched a couple of locals making a dog's dinner of reaction and depth perception tests Joined 4 others (incl. one other farang) for the 11:30 Netflix special. Only one was more interested in his smartphone (not a farang). Paid 505 baht, picture taken and rewarded with new 5-year DL a little after 13:00.

Happy Birthday tam!!!

Guess I must have been the other Farang then. Checked in just after 11. Copy of retirement visa, copy of front page of passport, and copy of yellow book, plus medical certificate. Pretty straight forward. Video goes on a bit, but it does have subtitles, (unfortunately in Chinese.) Old license 2months out of date, not an issue. Cocked up first attempt on the brake test, pedals are not as far apart as on my truck so moved foot too far. Came out with a new 5 year license. so all is well.

^ Nice to meet you Skeggy. The bloke sitting in front if you in the TV room had big issues with the reaction test too. I noticed he was wearing Crocs which I admit I also wore at my first Udon DL test out the KK road ages ago. Back then it took my about 3 attempts to get it right as well as they're like boats and you can't feel anything under your feet.

Ugly too... but otherwise practical.

I noticed the fidgety bigger in front of me was wearing hand-stitched, fine Italian leather driving moccasins. I guess that was his purple Lambo with the green NBLP plates that I spotted on the way in.
