Post by Bluesombreros » May 31, 2018, 6:52 am

Been told truck needs MOT test before it is sold. This is the first test as its 5 year old, what is the cost for the test
So it's 200 baht for the test.

I have a 22 year old Nissan NV and we had to take it for a test before we could insure and tax it, I really don’t get it, they don’t do anything, it all seems a bit pointless to be honest!

We recently sold our 10 year old Toyota truck......for the past 3 years, I've taken it to one of the inspection stations where the brakes are checked, the emissions measured, lights and wipers checked. The chassis number is also checked against the blue book to ensure they're one and the same. Cost 200 baht. Takes about 10 minutes if there's no line.
FWIW.....Texas and Connecticut, as examples, requires a variety of inspection tests, beginning on year 2! Costs vary from about $18 to over 30. I've been through Texas inspection a number of times......they check about as much as they do in Thailand.

The checks probably vary like they do with immigration. But according to the rules:
What are the examinations? Basically, it checks the basic condition of all the vehicles such as exhaust, smoke black (oil change and air filter), brake, wheel condition, all lights. Including the body number. The registration number that match the registration or not.

Why compare Texas and Connecticut with rural Thailand? It's absurd.

Why would a comparison be absurd, and if you read it you would see that the Thai inspection was being shown as comparable to a "non-rural" country.
