Been told truck needs MOT test before it is sold. This is the first test as its 5 year old, what is the cost for the test
So it's 200 baht for the test.

Re: Truck mot
I have a 22 year old Nissan NV and we had to take it for a test before we could insure and tax it, I really don’t get it, they don’t do anything, it all seems a bit pointless to be honest!
The forest was shrinking daily but the trees kept voting for the axe as its handle was made of wood and they thought it was one of them.

My SUV Is 18 Years Old Now but only done 128kms,So hardly even run-in for a Diesel,But I've had to get it MOT'd for the past 10 Years or so,Includes the Road Tax & Insurance works out 4,650 Baht a Year...vincemunday wrote: ↑June 1, 2018, 8:02 amI have a 22 year old Nissan NV and we had to take it for a test before we could insure and tax it, I really don’t get it, they don’t do anything, it all seems a bit pointless to be honest!
Re: Truck mot
We recently sold our 10 year old Toyota truck......for the past 3 years, I've taken it to one of the inspection stations where the brakes are checked, the emissions measured, lights and wipers checked. The chassis number is also checked against the blue book to ensure they're one and the same. Cost 200 baht. Takes about 10 minutes if there's no line.vincemunday wrote: ↑June 1, 2018, 8:02 amI have a 22 year old Nissan NV and we had to take it for a test before we could insure and tax it, I really don’t get it, they don’t do anything, it all seems a bit pointless to be honest!
FWIW.....Texas and Connecticut, as examples, requires a variety of inspection tests, beginning on year 2! Costs vary from about $18 to over 30. I've been through Texas inspection a number of times......they check about as much as they do in Thailand.
Re: Truck mot
Hy Parrot ,Brakes , Emission test ,Chassis number yep , but the lights & wiper's check has me confused, never in the 5 years i've been doing it , and yes 200 bht , Tax & Gov Insurance total 2250 ish bht ,
Re: Truck mot
Indicators and rear view mirrors never checked because Thai's never use them.
Re: Truck mot
The checks probably vary like they do with immigration. But according to the rules:
What are the examinations? Basically, it checks the basic condition of all the vehicles such as exhaust, smoke black (oil change and air filter), brake, wheel condition, all lights. Including the body number. The registration number that match the registration or not.

Re: Truck mot
Why compare Texas and Connecticut with rural Thailand? It's absurd.
