Just a quick one... wanted to know what to do in the daytime in udon? also any places that are recommended to go in the evening?

Nothing of any note has changed since your last visit. Suggest you do the same things, and go to the same places, as you enjoyed then!!!

"recommended" has to sides to it.
Do you want to know where the decent men, may go with their GF or family? Or where the "dogs" run?
be more specific, so some don't "assume" something different.

One option (daytime or evening) would be to sit down with felix and try to find out what makes him tick

If you find out, you have our permission to light the blue touch paper and retire

Not quite sure who you think I am. I usually end up at one of the bars in the evening, but always bump into the "young mob" and would prefer to avoid them.

lenny, I have not the slightest idea of who you are. The sole intention of my post was to be helpful, by conveying to you the good/bad news, that nothing had changed since your last visit. Enjoy yourself.

Things to do in day and of an evening.

May I revert to the title of this thread. I recently spent a weekend in Udon Thani (without my partner) and was rather looking forward to pursuing those activities that my partner does not particularly enjoy. These activities include:

independent cinema

live music - particularly jazz or classical

pub quiz

watching the Premiership (and preferably not in a girlie bar)

In the end I watched my own team put on a rather pitiful display on a big screen in UD town - nice atmosphere, shame about the scoreline. I was so gutted that I went back to my hotel and a long novel.

Apart from telling me to get back to North London or find a new team, did I miss out on any place at which I would have been happy and welcome?

I admire your perspective, caducus. You could go to Central , get a meal and watch mindless people buy stuff they don't need, at high prices. Thats big here.

Next time you're here in Thailand, try an elephant ride up a mountain, white water rafting, 4 wheel driving, diving or snorkling in one of Thailands 2 out of top 10 best beaches in THE WORLD. Enjoy the best food flavors, salty, spicey, sweet, bitter, of the world. Enjoy seeing good shape , basically happy people, who are not transformed into human whales by GMO's, Monsanto (not yet, but its growing) Last time I returned to the US, in Detroit, about 2009, the "proportions" of people got me on the next fight out. I didn't have time to get my "9"out.
Better to be here, safer, and don't need my "9"
