Would welcome a dry August as that’s our arrival date in Uth for a week , then headed to Ao Nang for a fortnight. Don’t like the choppy seas down south when it rains

ajsp9, have you considered somewhere like Khanom/Suchon on the other coast for August. Damp but not as bad as West coast.
On mainland close to Samui (30 mins to ferry port if you want to cross) nice beaches with fair number of hotels/restaurants etc. Bit quiet but entertainment available if required.
Plenty of Thais and not so many farang but shops cater for farang needs
Ideal for a few days recharging etc without museums/water parks/etc
Plenty of vids on You tube to get the feel of the place

Aye- constrained by school holidays I’m afraid, so it’s always a “fingers crossed” holiday

I'd certainly consider the East coast for August as even though the distance is not great the monsoon season seems to later by at least a month or two. Nice beaches in Chumphon area as well, only about 10km from town centre and big town amenities.

Would strongly suggest avoiding Hua Hin area in April (Jelly fish season) some years especially Takiep Beach and Khao Tao Beach there are so many being washed up its too dangerous to even go in the water (thousands of dead/semi dead washed up at shoreline daily)

Yes, like a bit of Hua Hin myself and love getting in the sea but those jelly’s really do make that difficult - stayed at the Hilton a few years ago and they had a netted off area for swimming off the beach. It’s such a shame that the jelly fish are there

That brings back memories. Stayed at Hilton with 2 mates to celebrate my 50th (a few yrs ago). Turned up at reception and their computer twigged it was my 50th when reception keyed the info in. Full blast rendition of "Happy Birthday to you" suddenly arrived from about 20 speakers all over the reception leaving my mates laughing their heads off and me looking for a hole to crawl down. Was worth it in the end as they upgraded us to a suite the likes i'd never seen before which had 3 seperate bedrooms/lounge 3 bathrooms all with Jacuzzis a balcony that stretched to Cha Am and best of all a key fob with Hilton Hotel ????? Suite in big letters (babe magnet even in the Hilton bar)

onnee kiddin Alan .. thankfully your not as daft as you look !!!

Well so far one sharp shower at circa 4am here on the swish West side where its very overcast indeed the street light sensors still telling the lights to remain on (yes we have operational street lights here unlike the East side favelas where they rely on candles and buffaloes with a torch strapped to his heed) ....so a cloudy cool morning but as KP comments the shower has improved the air ... looking at the very accurate TMD rain radar all the wet stuff is in lower Isan and across to Saraburi and Bkk.

Not so accurate Accu weather site .. 70% chance of rain in Udonville today which is handy cos its DMs bath day.

Well, let's not go overboard yet. Do you still back the Evertons? The answer to your question lies there.

Have a couple of boxes of colour slides of Benidorm taken in late 1950's if you are interested DM (bit different to when you were last there on the raz I suspect)....... as for Skeggy, it must be 40 yrs since I was last there, but its probably as run down as the rest of Lincs :-k

How did i know you had been to Benidorm n Skeggy eh Statto ?? .. i must be telescopic.

Well the dark clouds have moved on and its glorious over here on Udons better side .. and just to make it even more loverly a huge batch of white butterflies must have been spawned in the surrounding countryside as thers thousands n thousands of the buggars winging past on the breeze... really quite a special moment so i cracked a can of Chang to have with my smoked salmon on toast taken on the South jetty overlooking the yot moorings, crochet lawn and rose garden.

Never seen so many butterflies ..even during my time in fun city Pattaya !!

This morning 0700 abut, while pruning a tree, I noticed just how HOT the sun was even at that time . I checked today hot 35 plus and tomorrow easing off with rain forecasted overnight into thursday morning, a gradual cooling hopefully.
