Thank you
Re: Udon Immigration
My visit last week. I had D all the above to include the yellow house book. My wife had to sigh a document that I lived in her house. I noted that a farrang down the counter had to do the same thing. This was the 15th time I have renewed. I have lived at the same place in excess of 10 years. I have a single retirement visa.
I would say if you run into something new don't panic and argue. Just get them what they ask for.

Re: Udon Immigration
Does this mean that married guys on a retirement extension need to start lugging their spouses down to Immigration for signing off? That won't settle well with Mrs tam who has been eternally grateful that I switched to retirement from a marriage extension and she got one day per year of her life back.bumper wrote:My visit last week. Got my multi-entry retirement visa extension last month. As usual, the service was friendly and efficient - we were in and out in around 20 minutes. Fabulous service from Udon Immigration Police,
Cheers

Your use of 'we' suggests that your partner went with you. Did she have to sign off on anything or was she just along for company?mac123 wrote:Got my multi-entry retirement visa extension last month. Re: Udon Immigration
To RickFarang,
All I took was the Yellow Book but my long haired boss was asked for her ID and to sign that I actually stayed there. Not sure if you are single what would be required. Seems a wee bit strange as a huge amount of guys on Retirement Extensions are single. TIT

Re: Udon Immigration
Just thinking back to when I lived in Sin City. I needed to show my rental agreement for the "loom" so I suppose it must be the same for the singlies up here as well.
Re: Udon Immigration
Immigration is inconsistent it seems. I renewed my one year stay in April. They didn't ask me for a map. I only realized later that I had forgotten to bring one, but the subject never came up. Also my wife was not asked to sign any documents attesting to my residence. I have been asked a time or two for my bank book in addition to income statement to which I reply "mai mee" which ended the discussion. I never have any problems with immigration just never sure what they want.
Re: Udon Immigration
Last year at Nong Khai, they asked Mrs S to provide a copy of her ID card and sign a document when I went in to renew my extension of stay (retirement). It is complete and utter nonsense, not required by the rules on the Immigration website, but local officials , apparently, have leeway to make up their own additional rules. If she had been out of country, as she often is, I don't know what would have happened.
Re: Udon Immigration
I currently rent and have done 6 retirement extensions. For proof or residence I bring my lease agreement, and a copy of my landlords housebook and Thai ID, both signed by him.bumper wrote:My visit last week. So it seems consistent that your wife (who is the legal owner of the house) would need to do the same as a landlord.
However, if you have a yellow book I think that already proves that. So a duplicate effort confirming where you live.
Exactly. Nothing to panic about, just would be nice to know what they need before you show up.bumper wrote:I would say if you run into something new don't panic and argue. Just get them what they ask for.

Re: Udon Immigration
That's kind of the issue, isn't it. They don't know what you need. Ask the same question three days in a row you'll get three different answers. Wives aren't required for retirement extensions where a yellow book is in hand. Unless they decide that day that they are ...

Re: Udon Immigration
Did my annual retirement extension yesterday, went in about 11am and out , visa done before 11.30. Four desks all manned were working but no one else waiting. First things first, queue ticket machine not working, back to the old coloured cards, took one but never used it, first officer free just gave me a smile and a nod to go over .A new guy I think , never seen him before anyway, gave him all the usual documents as per previous years, neatly clipped together with passport .For ten minutes no words at all were exchanged between us, he then handed the file to the lady officer next to him who proceeded to flip through them all again, eventually asking me , bank book, don't know why as my embassy letter showed sufficient income, but I gave it to her which she then photo copied a few pages from and returned to me, no big deal, five more minutes flipping through then the stamping started, so guessed things were in order, then the big boss got to look through them and sign all again before giving them back to the original man who then explained to me the 90 day reporting and the renewed visa expiry dates, asked me for 2,000bht, which , with a smile on my face I replied, gone up has it, oh sorry I forgot the coffee money, gave him 2k, got a grin back. All done and dusted for another year. I notice some comments on forum about wifey being present, well mine was but her participation was limited to a comment on my age from the officer which brought forth a "kang lang' and a thumbs up, nothing else. I will add however that every year my documents include her copy Id and blue house paper signed by her .My yellow book is never used .
Ageing is a privilige denied to many .
Re: Udon Immigration
I think this should be sufficient in lieu of bringing you wife, (which shouldn't be required for a retirement visa). I never bring my wife with me, they all speak English there.trubrit wrote:. I will add however that every year my documents include her copy Id and blue house paper signed by her ..
Apparently now the yellow book alone is not enough is some cases?

Re: Udon Immigration
NK immigration requires photos of the lovely couple inside/outside/in bedroom for a retirement visa, in addition to signed copies of Thai ID card and blue book. What if the retiree is single? It would yield the bureaucratic equivalent of division by zero -- complete meltdown.

Still a bit of a lottery then.
Re: Udon Immigration
It depends on the weather I suppose. Mine is not marriage visa. Just do what the ask for it's only once a year.

Re: Udon Immigration
Perhaps 10 minutes for me, although I was first in the queue as the doors opened. Certainly a few minutes was down to getting the computer to work, but then it was like Formula 1 ..... staple out, form printed, I signed, slip torn from bottom of form using ruler, staple in and highlighter pen to mark the next appointment. Wonderful stuff. Mind you, they've got the hang of it after 15 years.
Oh, there was also an initial delay and concern as the officer searched for something missing from the desk, which I think was the tip box.
