Thai Bank Interest rates

Last year Bangkok Bank and SBC had good interest rates for fixed deposits, 3%+

this week my Deposit matures and i get a nice little return which will buy me somthing nice on 2 wheels

anyway, been looking to do the same again and wow the rates have dropped quite a lot under 2% and in some cases 0.5%

anybody heard why? or in the know?

or whats the best out there at the moment?

LH Bank still has 3%

Likewise GSB - 3% for 11 months (tax free, to boot!).

Promotion ends 5th April, I believe.

I year in Lao gets you 10%,
6 months I beieve is not at 6%

And they don't charge you interest :-"

One year in Indonesia you get 7% interest but you can not open a bank account there on a tourist visa the same as you can not open a bank account in Laos on a tourist visa. You can probably search the world & you will find bank accounts with even higher interest rates but you would not open an account there.

Yesterday Bangkok Bank offered 2 % for a 4 month deposit

Yes 2% with BB for 4 months, 4 months ago it was 2.625%pa remember they also deduct 15% tax

Can't see online anything much better
