Obese dog

Post by choi choi » April 18, 2024, 4:35 pm

Can anyone suggest a solution how to reduce my Lucy's fatness? About 4 years ago we had her spayed. Apparently, it alters their hormone balance. She is always asking for food! Almost addictive! She is not overfed. In this present heatwave, she is stressed out. I fear she maybe get heart attack! So fat she struggles to stand from lying down!. So sad for her

First, of course, consult your (her) veterinarian. Additionally,

Is she always getting food when she asks?

A friend of mine loved his beagles to a fat untimely death with uncontrolled snacks and three meals a day. We had to stop the various squatters from giving our mongrels snacks every time they 'asked'. I think it may be worse in a Thai household with their interminable all-day, anytime snacking.

We had our bitch spayed and the hormonal changes resulted in weight gain but restricting all the dogs to one-time morning snacks from Mrs tam ONLY, and the one big feed in the evening seems to keep them happy.

We Have two dogs. The Labrador has a bit more food than Lucy as he is bigger!
The get fed Morning and evening. Mainly dog food, and dry biscuit.Only a plateful.
I have quite big land. Labrador runs about. But Lucy just wants sleep!
In fact She lays under my bed all day. Night time also (Air con on)
She really stresses out panting. The heat gets to her. She wont go anywhere.
Try get her walking about but shoots back in side in about 5 minutes!
If lose her, I will be heartbroken. She so lovely dog 8-[ 8-[

Our chihuahua - jack russell mix went from 3.5 to at least 5.5 kg. in about a month after getting fixed. He eats mostly dog food with liver, chicken, pork and duck from the local market almost daily. He loves cheese and peanut butter, and has eaten them from a young age. He gets lots of exercise running around in the heat with his chihuahua girlfriend.
