Re: Why do you stay in Thailand?
I remind myself at times why my Thai wife and I left the U.S. after living there for 40 years. That is a long story that I will not go into. I met my wife when I was stationed here in the Military back in the 1970s. I feel in love with Thai people and their culture and most of all their personality....

I was not going to respond when I started reading this thread but I feel compelled to say something. I fell in love with Thailand and the Thai culture 47 years ago. I married one of them 47 years ago. I have had my days of ranting also but by the end of the day, I calm down and then I am OK. This is...

[quote=semperfiguy post_id=564308 time=1581080135 user_id=20643] Truth of the matter is he is handing out free surgical masks that are known to offer absolutely no protection against the coronavirus or even PM2.5 particulate matter. Re: Water line and meter questions (town water)
We had a similar problem several years ago. We live in a rural village of 300 people. The water system in the village has 2” plastic distribution pipes. The tap is a 1/2 “plastic pipe. And a water meter with ½” fittings. We put in a 2000 liter storage tank and connected to the village water system w...

Re: Jobs for young Thai people
A common theme out in the villages is men young and old going to another country to work. They will send money home for years. Sometimes it will be up for 5 years or more. Most of the time the mother or wife will save most of the money in a bank account that is sent home and then after the man comes...

Re: Mandatory health insurance for Non O-A visa effective from 31 October
I joined Udonmap back in 2007. I was still working and living in the U.S. I remember one of the expatriates that has been living here for a long time gave me some advice that I never forgot and that was he told me to always have a Plan-B in place just in case. There are no guarantees in life. I have...
