It's a very peaceful time to be a human on planet Earth. The level of relative peace is unprecedented compared to any other point in recorded history.

Andy was born in California, grew up there and graduated high school in his home town of Imperial.
they played the Mexican National Anthem.
That says a lot about the mindset of so-called "Americans" these days.

Isaan is no more a language than Tex-Mex is.

It's just a mashup of the two.

Re: Follow the Money

The Thai banking system sucks ass. Some of the online functions are approaching 1990s technology, but the attitudes are firmly stuck in the 1930s. It's darn near brittle.

if you see a Mother and her child picking through the roadside garbage give them some baht to help them along.
But a boy or man picking through garbage needs to harden up?

How ridiculously chivalrous.

I hate insurance. It's a scam.

That's not to say I don't have it, just that I despise the premise.

Re: worlds rivers polluted with antibiotics

I'd say our parents left us an equally fkt up world. I've noticed politicians have stopped harping on about "future generations" or "our poor children". They just don't care anymore.

Re: Follow the Money

Good to know information. Thanks for that. I'm about to ditch Krung Thai who never explain anything and lie through their teeth. They don't even tell you when fixed term deposits will mature. For 10 years they lied and shuffled around the topic of farand earning less on deposits than Thais. I have n...

She said I wouldn't get an ATM card with the account.....BUT, I could transfer money 2x a month via a phone app for free.....50 baht per after that. That's as good as an ATM card, assuming the transfers can be made between accounts with different owners. I think I need to makes some changes based o...

The best short term term account I could find was at CIMB at 1.70 for 12 months.
Was that for account for Thais, or for foreigners (non-juristic persons)? The foreigner interest rate is about 30% lower than the Thai rate.

PenFed's 1-year fixed rate is 2.25%

Re: Follow the Money

Also don't forget that you will probably have tax withheld at about 15% so will need to submit an end of year tax form to reclaim it. Can you clarify this? The 15 percent tax on interest earned is reclaim-able? I was not aware. 1.5 percent interest on 800K is 12,000 baht annually. Fifteen percent o...

Brittles are lonely because they insist on living in the mid 1900s. They can't let it go.

I've listened for 30 years about others banging on about the tightness of Asian families, and how families come first, and how nothing will ever come between an Asian family. It's BS. Thais, and Japanese, and Chinese and most Asian cultures I've witnessed will ditch their family as quickly as any we...

Re: Udon Thani Immigration new rules

It is with great intrigue that I witness residents of Thailand defending absurd requirements of its foreigners to report their whereabouts every 90 days, provide monetary proof on non-dependency, offer little to no chance of citizenship -- YET -- support policies in their home country that allow abs...

Re: May gone - One down 3 to go

The scale of Britain's cluster is only eclipsed by the comedy of errors seen in Venezuela or North Korea. Each country fancies itself a major world player. Each is wallowing in its own epic failures, and each has a bevy of bogeymen and scapegoats on which to to blame its problems. As the world turns...
