Re: What is the Worst Movie You Have Ever Watched?

I have actually watched Layer Cake on multiple occasions, it is one of the best in its genre admittedly.

What? Fargo is my favourite movie, try watching it again!
Fargo is an absolute classic, it needs watching multiple times to catch all the action.

Re: Overpass/tunnel Udon Ringroad Nongkai Hwy

I have found it much easier to come in to town from Nong Khai since these works commenced. I have only once been delayed, and that was caused by the constant lane changing of individuals trying to get ahead of the pack. A small fortune could have been saved by making the "racetrack system" in use at...

In Sri Chiang Mai they appear to have automated the power outage system, as every time the wind gets up, the power goes off.

Re: Villa Market location

Just an update on my original post. Went to Villa Market. I see they do have Oxo Cubes in there. They had I think chicken and vegetable, but were out of beef. Also, I emailed customer services at VM. They replied after a couple of days, saying: "Yes, we do stock Oxo Beef Cubes pack of 12 at a retai...

Re: The Brick House.

In town yesterday took the opportunity to visit the Brick House. Warmly greeted at the entrance by a very polite young girl , seated under a fan, and shown the menu. My order taken immediately, and double-check by the waitress. My bacon cheese burger c/w chips arrived , beautifully presented on a wo...

Nihilism in Udon Thani

No folks, not another bar/restaurant in Udon, but merely a comment on recent negativity on Udon Map (UM) some recent threads, opened for members to ask quite reasonable questions, or to advise us out of towners that there is a new bar/restaurant , which we could try on our next visit. Some of these ...

Re: Transport Options from U-Tapao to Central Pattaya

Have you considered hiring a car at the airport. It gives you more flexibility. Driving in a Pattaya, is much easier than Up here. There is an add-on facility when booking flights for a minibus hire which would drop you off at Central Beach. For a little extra they will drop you at the hotel. I have...

Re: Renewing UK driving license ,

I renewed my licence a few months ago. They will cross refer and collect a photograph from the Passport Office copy electronically. You do have to certify that you currently live in The UK, and the new licence is sent to that address. Luckily enough, my sister had bought my house, so that was not a ...

Re: Overpass/tunnel Udon Ringroad Nongkai Hwy

There is a general lack of large scale signage anywhere at this roadworks. I know where I am going, I avoid coming in to town as much as possible, but needs must sometimes. Generally speaking I am getting straight through, only once did I find any excessive delay, and that was at the same level of d...

Does anyone have experience of using the above, is it possible to purchase a top-up card in say Tesco Lotus. I understand I can add money in Kerry Express and MacDonalds, though I am not looking forward to having that conversation.

I also completed another extension of stay (retirement) at Nong Khai using the British Embassy letter in September. Re: Rent a bicylce in UD

The shop you describe does not rent bicycles but they do sell and service them. I know the shop well. The owner's name is Peter and yes he speaks excellent English. I've been cycling in and around Udon and far beyond to the surrounding countries for about 12 years now with only 1 mishap when a moto...

Re: Rent a bicylce in UD

A word to the wise, Udon is not built to accommodate bicycles very well, even on the designated blue paths. Very much agree with this comment, you are risking life and limb contemplating using a bicycle in Udon. However, if you decide to do so, there is a bicycle shop, with an excellent English spe...

We flew to Chiangmai back in 2010.....then rented a car and drove to Pai...and later to MaeHongSon. Yes, there are something like 1544 horseshoe turns through the mountains, but we actually enjoyed the drive. Lots of places to stop and chill......coffee, views, eats, etc. We enjoyed our day in Pai....

I have completed a number, of extensions of stay (retirement) at Nong Khai. I would recommend you pop in and ask them what the “current” requirements are, they will provide you with a full list. I have also completed 90 day reports, either in person on the due date, on-line when it is up and running...

Sweet Garden Level 2 Central.
Saw some lovely children's cakes this morning.

Sweet Garden

Thanks for this heads-up. I had not noticed that they sold cakes. Popped in today, delightful friendly staff, who showed the large range of cakes which can be ordered, and an on-line presence in addition.

Birthday cake for a child

Not keen on the usual fare available in the supermarkets. So I am trying to find someone who can make a high quality birthday cake , suitable for 3 year olds.
