Re: best place to rent a car

Whenever I've tried LEK they have had no cars. I now always use UD Car Rent Deliver/collect anywhere - clean cars. They even came out to me one Saturday night when I had a flat tyre - and to save me waiting while they changed it they brought a replacement car. Also on my last visit I forgot the day ...

Re: need help on where I should live in Udon Thani

I've rented here on two occasions - once in 2013/4 and now. My preference is around the South Ring road - we are renting at Baan Klangmuang 5, The Resort. Previously we rented in Baan Chonrada on the south ring road. I would say Baan Chonrada has gone down since we rented there....pool not kept well...

Learning French

Anyone know where my Thai wife can study French in Udon Thani? She speaks Thai obviously and good English, but we will be going to live in France. Possibly also our (nearly 5) son (who just speaks English).

Nor Sor Saam 3 Gor land

We are looking at a plot of land to buy in my (Thai) wife's name. This land is Nor Sor Saam 3 Gor land. I understand that it bestows ownership, but I have not been able to confirm anywhere that (subject to building permit) we are able to go ahead and build a house on that land. Would the local Amphu...

Lareg screw 60w light bulbts (small pearl)

Anyone know where to find these? Looked in the supermarkets and Lazada, but they are all LED these days(!)
Don't want those a) because they are expensive and b) because they are not dimmable. Saw some larger clear bulbs on lazada but not what I want. Anyone know if Thai Watsadu sell them?

Makro

Had to abandon shop and they had to put everything back on shelf. Cannot believe such a large place doesn't accept/visa/masterc...

Re: Visa extension via Marriage

Am I a suspicious character???? My wife had a phone call form immigration today - despite us taking a Thai national to immigration when applying for the extension (she signed their forms, copies of blue book/id), it seems they want a SECOND Thai person to do the same thing - the only bright spot is ...

Re: Visa extension via Marriage

"If you were applying today, why would Immigration have had your INCOME letter on file, or Am I mis-understanding your point. Presumably you are referring to the Udon office." Yes, Udon office. I came to Thailand at short notice, 30 day visa exempt. Then extended for 60 days (at which I had to prod...

Transfer Land to Chanote

My wife says she heard on Thai news that certain provinces are inviting applications to register land as Chanote land? Anyone have any pointers to this and what provinces are eligible. My wife phone the Land Office in Loei but they said they had no information.

Visa extension via Marriage

Ye goodness....I thought France was a nightmare for paperwork....went to Immigration today to extend for one year via marriage. Took 1.5 hours even though I had three neat files of paperwork - one original and two copies. 1) They wanted to charge an extra 1,000 baht to 'guarantee Pension attestation...

Re: UK debit or credit cards.

I use two cards - MBNA (American Express - no fees) and Santander Zero.

MBNA is accepted at Big C and Tesco but not in all outlets. Both are at standard card rates.
With Santander there is also NO charge for withdrawing cash from ATM (only the local bank charge).

So I stopped using (but kept installed), and now use the superior OPERA v48. My Sony Vaio (2012) runs much faster and Opera take sonly aroun...

What do you mean by phone/fax???
Do you actually need a physical device? unlikely?
Why not try one of the free online Fax senders? see http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/send-fax-for-free/
