Re: ACH Funds Transfer To BKK NY

Because BKK Bank NY will no longer accept ACH Funds Transfer as of April 01, I am seeking an alternative to transfer funds from the US to a Thai Bank. I have scoured the on-line banking site to see if they will accept ACH Transfer but I see nothing to that affect. My Bank in New York said the only ...

Angeles City Philippines

I have been reviewing recent U tube videos of Angeles City and the place appears to have improved in terms of infrastructure, at least the roads look better than my trip many years ago and all the new construction seems to be for the better. I would not want to live there, I would rather live in Ceb...

Baht Strengthening Again

I hope someone can give me a clear economic reason why the Baht is heading downward again. It takes a longer time to depreciate then appreciate, at least that is the way I see it. It is so frustrating because it mostly happens at the beginning and end of the month when funds are transferred into my ...

Re: FBAR Report

Just to clarify my previous post. Is it not an account in a Thai Bank held by or on behalf of a retirement plan such as direct deposit for a social security account, is it just wishful thinking on my part

I would really like to make a decision prior to my next extension as to the pros and cons of retirement vs. marriage. I know of the negative risks of divorce or eve...

Re: Cleaning Air-Con units

Hi folks, Thought I'd pick your brains on the topic of cleaning air-con units. I would like to get it done in advance of the hot season so better start now. Anyway, do you have any recommendations for reliable air-con cleaners/service people? What is the normal rate per air-con unit? Any contact ph...

You are lucky, I wasn't. Different bank locations, different days. As always here in Thailand "the word is subject to change".
My question was did you visit the main Bangkok Brach in Udon?

Re: Opening Bangkok Bank new account

My understanding is that as of now is that Bangkok Bank is the only one that TransferWise shows as a foreign transfer. It usually does according to reports. However TransferWise state very clearly they transfer money domestically, so while you may get transfers showing as international at any time ...

Differences in banks I guess. My extension of stay is Non-OA based on retirement. I'd never do marriage.
Why would you not do marriage? I am on a O-A retirement Visa and am considering marriage Visa because I am not comfortable keeping 800K in Thai Bank.

Re: ID Required in Post Office

I forgot to mention that I have used this Post Office ( Pho Si ) in Udon for the past 7 years and never have been asked for ID, that is why I was surprised. Also, it is the first time I have seen card readers at each station so must be a policy that is being enforced.

ID Required in Post Office

I went to mail a letter at the Udon Post Office to the US today and was asked for my Passport. Totally surprised! Unfortunately, I got a clerk that spoke very little English so I did not get a clear answer as to why He needed my Passport. He did accept my Thai License but he told me next time bring ...
