Re: Help needed to clean tiles

This just goes to prove that there has to be a basic sequence during construction - and I can't think of anything that comes further down the sequence than floor tiles. My build is still about two months away from lockup, but I am keen to be able to stay overnight on weekends. To this end, I have ju...

Re: Low Budget Village Build For In-Laws

I think that is entirely possible - it's about the same size as my garage/workshop/laundry/wc. A lot better finished of course. But with family supplying a good deal of the labour, I can't see why not.

Re: John's budget build

Back in BKK again after spending five days working onsite. With five workers, we got a lot done. Just backtracking a little, we poured the lower level floor a few weeks back - kitchen/dining, main bathroom/indoor garden/water feature. This is the last slab until we add a front patio down the track a ...

Re: Termite treatment routine

At my previous home on the Gold Coast (Oz) I had a system installed which comprised a perforated plastic hose embedded in a 30 x 30 cm trench of sand, covered over and with a pump connection/valve. The operator pumped a couple of hundred litres of diluted product through the hose. The product was Ba...

Re: Edging trowel

Thanks for all the input guys. Following up on a tip, my wife picked one up at Thai Watsadu a couple of days ago. I went there yesterday and got a control joint groover as well. Both 55 baht.

Re: Edging trowel

I guess to be technically correct I should have called it an edging float rather than trowel. But I like your idea BRD. I think I have a small section of 15 x 15 cm somewhere (main house posts) that would do the trick - it has a large enough corner radius to do the job (10 x 5 cm radius too small). ...

Re: Edging trowel

Hi guys, and thanks for the quick response. Vince, I have spent hours searching thru both Lazada and Aliexpress without any luck. Specifically, I need an edging trowel with a downward-curled quarter circle lip longitudinally to give the path edge a rounded profile rather than a right angle which wil...

Re: John's budget build

A bit late, but a couple of pics from the 10 days I had on site over Xmas-New Year. tn_IMG_20181225_130645.jpg Seems we forgot to run an earth for the main BR air con. No probs, there are ten 15 x 15 cm steel posts all one metre into the ground, all connected via the roof structure, and they are als...

Edging trowel

Won't be too long before I will be doing a lot of pathways and I will need an edging trowel like the one in the picture. For that matter, I really needed one from Day 1, but haven't been able to locate one in Thailand. Internet searches with sites like Lazada and Aliexpress haven't helped either. A ...

Re: John's budget build

"In three weeks time" contains 25% too many words. Actually the overall construction is acceptable, if redundant; but your example is grammatically incorrect. It should be: "In three weeks' time." I go along with the possessive, but not the redundancy. 'In three weeks' can (and mostly does) refer t...

Re: Low kms Ford Ranger Pickup 2.5 L turbo 335,000 baht

Sorry Kjell. I have only just seen your PM. I used to get an email notification once, but this hasn't been happening lately. I still have the pickup, but am going to keep it for the time being. The idea was to upgrade to a later model automatic pickup that my wife could drive as well. With the chang...

Re: John's budget build

Giggles 26 Nov. 'You mean: "in about twelve months." What else could months be, but time? distance? temperature? weight? It reminds me of the laborious daft Brit phrase, "Sixty years of age." WTF else could years be, you logorrhoean toads? Seriously, you Brits test the limits of my medication.' As t...
