Solved the problem, booked the flight through Thai, 50 baht extra cost, they accepted AMEX ok.

I have been trying for two days to book a flight BKK/Uth with Thai Smile. I am in Australia and have tried to pay with my Visa Card (used to book flights previously) and direct debit on my SCB bank account all to no avail. Have they regressed to the mid 1950's?

Got Thai passports 2 months ago, a very efficient office and process, no palm greasing asked for or offered.

There is a bloke setup outside PPP money exchange, cheap and good quality work.

I will not be alone so a quite night in is on the cards.

Thanks for the replies. I had things arse up, I was going to the hotel first and then Trendy but the light came on and it will be Trendy first and then hotel so it does not need to be near Trendy.

Today I went to AEK to renew my 5 year licences. Because I only have a 30 day Visa exemption I received 2 year licence. Never mind, I bombed the colour perception test but they let me through. No reaction test though. I know what to do in 2 years time, take a book to read while the video is playing....

Going to get my residence letter for 5 year licence renewal tomorrow. It will be interesting to see what the charge will be. As an aside the licence/land transport office at AEK assured me that I only need 1 letter and a copy for a 5 year renewal for car and bike.
