Re: What roofing material and system is best in the area?
I read somewhere where they can install a metal roof on top of an existing roof? Is this true? Does this preclude using the foam under the steel?.

Re: What roofing material and system is best in the area?
There is an existing roof composite tile system to be removed. Was 73 baht just to put your roof on? I'm not sure how the steel support looks or if it may need modified for steel? Did you use Colorbond XRW Steel G300S? What thickness? What is the best way to get quotes for these various metal types....

Re: What roofing material and system is best in the area?
Is it Colourbond or colorbond? Metal less? Non metalic? The company is telling her that if they give her quote they expect to start work? How can a person tell a roofing company to start work until you see the job description and materials to be used written down. So labor of 90 baht/ sq m sounds hi...

A antenna blew over and damaged the ridge and then the repair guy cracked more and said she needed a new roof... this was a couple years ago...What ...

I bet this will be stupid ? why paint a wall? cant the skim coat of cement have color added? OR if no paint wy coat a retaining wall with waterproofing? 3 Coats may not seal all the voids and seems like so much work... Paint wont last .. I can see the need for a good french drain to keep the hydrost...

I think the roof line looks great. now you have that shady drinking porch. I guess this highlights to everyone the need for much thought on shade. I cant wait till solar panels are so cheap that all sunny sides of houses have solar panel coatings rather than siding.. IT looks like there will be a co...

Nice to be able to find a plant so close and good price... Glad to hear about your hard line on the 5 cm minimum rebar coverage. IT's sad to see corrosion seeping up the rebar. do they have to corrosion resistant coated rebar available over there? You sound anal for quality like me... and I cant sta...

Why not run the Aircon during the day to precool the house down. My neighbor installed 12KW of panels on his house..He is grid tie but we don't make much for power here in Utah. its a fight with the sole power provider Utah power. They are arguing the lines and equipment are a large cost. I need to ...

Wow you go big. a dog house to live in... looks like some families dwellings I saw in Thailand.. or much better. . Are guard dogs a must in an around UT? How were the prefab posts set in the ground? did I miss that page? Why not use metal posts? That seems like a large umbrella on just 8 posts? It lo...

'Ive never seen a tile person use a stool or used one... I hope the person is using thin set on the floor as well as back buttering. IMHO the thinset put on the floor correctly and of the right thickness and freshness avoids the need for back buttering. Why not thin set a row of 8 tiles or better ye...

Do you need a special paint for the Shera decking? I cant imagine something lasting on a horizontal surface. Very nice and clean pool deck area. Why do they make cinder block forms for the stair pads? Why not just wood forms? Here they they use forms and then take them off at the end of the day and ...

I really like infinity pools and how your pool is hugged by the house and open shady places. IT is nice that there will be some shade in the pool at all times. I guess with a salt water pool corrosion is more a factor? So she wants to be a builder? That is cool how will you satisfy that? I have sinc...

Yes lets not worry about what can happen... I bet it is exciting to have the pool started. I was reading where sometimes they hammer in the foundation posts and sometimes set on a pad. How to concrete posts handle the stresses of hammering? Here in the US they sometimes hammer in large round hollow ...

Re: Mick's House Build
I do have concerns about water leaking, wicking down those patio support columns. There penetration th really through the main metal roof are very hard areas to get water proof. Cutting, bending, sealing, metal flashings, and the large temperature changes produce movement. Add in UV light and sealan...

Does that rebar get the rust cleaned off and painted?
So where will you live for 98% of the time? Plan went from you living there to in laws?

Re: Mick's House Build
Mick, I'm a new guy here. I think your kitchen is located in a good place and I like how the shape of your house gives two private areas separated by the kitchen just in case there's noises :D I can imagine you want to be able to keep an eye on the pool since it appears the average swimming ability ...

My post about water was just some ramblings. I thought the discussion git out of hand a bit in that area and really distracted from your nice home build thread. I think an elevated water tank is a great idea if power or city water flow is an issue. I figured the paint room was for wood working thing...
