Re: Reversing the Woke Tide

Thanks for the heads up. This is something I will enjoy. It seems like a real page turner unlike most of the incredibly stupid writing one finds these days. Whoops.

Happy Victoria Day!

Canada is celebrating Queen Victorias birthday today. As a kid, it was also known as firecracker day, and Empire Day. Enjoy the day everyone. Victoria Day is a federal Canadian public holiday observed on the last Monday preceding May 25 to honour Queen Victoria, who is known as the "Mother of Confed...

Scotland Again

Life is so overwhelming these days. No-one seems to know what is what anymore and common sense has been tossed out the window. Victory for worker in rape centre gender row Damning employment tribunal judgment slated Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre and found its chief executive was behind a ‘heresy hunt...

In 1498 Vasco da Gama, the Portuguese explorer, arrived at Calicut, India, becoming the first European to open a sea-based trade route to India; in 1608 Shakespeare’s Antony and Cleopatra was entered in the Stationers’ Register; in 1895 the American Supreme Court ruled that a national income tax pas...

Re: Words and their Definitions

The longer a species has existed somewhere the more time it’s had to form associations with other species, which is why native species are considered more valuable to wildlife than those which have been recently introduced. In the UK there are no fewer than 149 species of invertebrates which live on...

Re: Darren-Dutchyshen-death Another Great Canadian

Jeez Doodoo, what's wrong with you? I mentioned that McLean works as a referee (hockey) when he's not on Coache's Corner or whatever it is called now. I truly believe you are showing disrespect to the late Mr. Dutchyshen by making him out to be something he was not. He was a competent and respected ...

Re: Darren-Dutchyshen-death Another Great Canadian

Whatever is said or printed about me once I'm dead won't bother me in the least. It doesn't bother me now so why should it then. Surely, you jest if you are including Darren with Beliveau, Horton Cherry et al. With the exception of Don Cherry, none of them were sports commentators. They played the g...

Re: Darren-Dutchyshen-death Another Great Canadian

Yes, that is true. However, one should not overdo it as the words 'flabbergasted' and 'great' suggest. You posted on the death of the political and social commentator, Rex Murphy, a week or so ago. His death would have more impact on Canadians owing to his controversial views than poor Mr. Dutchyshe...

Re: Darren-Dutchyshen-death Another Great Canadian

Yes, and that is what I suggested. But the statement made by Yahoo that 'Canadians were flabbergasted' is incorrect. The statement that he was a great Canadian is also incorrect. He was a nice person with a friendly personality on screen; however, the fact that he was a sports commentator does not m...

Re: Israel under attack from hamas, war declared.

I doubt you or many other Israeli leaders would extend the hand of friendship to the leadership of Hamas since their stated goal is to wipe you out. Methinks it would be political folly/suicide to do so.

Re: Darren-Dutchyshen-death Another Great Canadian

It is sad that he is dead, but his death from prostate cancer did not leave me flabbergasted as the report suggests, nor do I think many other Canadians were shocked to learn that he is no more. Here is a better obituary from Saskatoon than the one from Yahoo. https://thestarphoenix.com/news/local-n...

Re: Words and their Definitions

At last the sun came out, and a large red damselfly (Pyrrhosoma nymphula) basked on a bramble leaf. It had just emerged from the little woodland pond close by. These insects have a two-year life cycle, most of which is spent underwater in nymph form. Large red damselfly nymphs live at the bottom of ...
