90 day reporting under new rules

I’m probably among the first to do 90 day reporting under the new rules. FYI nothing has changed at all, I went armed with a letter from my bank showing I still had the money (the rumour was it was a requirement) and I never had to show it. Went in, 5 minutes later walked out, great service once aga...

Re: Weather in Udon ?

Mrs M wasn't best pleased, a few of her Tilapia went belly up, probably through the heat, however the problem was soon solved after she culled most of them and sold them to the villagers who turned up to help catch, kill and gut them.

Re: Power cuts coming to Udon ?

I'm no expert when it comes to electricity and I have a question. My generator is connected to my loop for lights and to the home fridge. All of my lighting is LED an thus really low wattage, the fridge freezer is quite big but probably no more than 1200 watts on start up. My generator is 2.8 kw and...

Re: Holiday recommendations

We did a trip around the Southern Isaan area last year, we drove, stayed at hotels, looked around then moved on the next day and saw some marvellous places (some crap ones too), it's a great way to see the area. A little tip, Hop Inn hotels are pretty good if you're travelling this way.

Re: Holiday recommendations

Thanks for the recommendations so far, at the moment I'm leaning heavily towards Jon's Blackpool idea, after all if it's good enough for DM... Phuket is okay, I nearly killed myself last time we went there, I tried reliving my youth staying out until 4 am, I lasted 3 nights, it took me a week to rec...

Holiday recommendations

Looking for recommendations for places by a nice beach, must have a nice pool, decent rooms and plenty of nightlife (but not tacky like Pattaya). Budget between 1500 and 3500 a night. We usually go to Koh Chang so looking for somewhere else this time.

Re: Visa Extension based on Retirement 28.01.2019

I think a raise in the financial requirement would be a real body blow to some, not everyone has 800,000 lying around, particularly those with kids and to be honest if they doubled the retirement requirement to 1,600,000 baht I'd consider moving to Laos or somewhere, having that kind of money sittin...

Re: Visa Extension based on Retirement 28.01.2019

I'm pretty sure I've read that they're thinking about the increased financial requirements elsewhere too, does anyone have any concrete news about it or a link or is it just another rumour?

Went their with the wife, both thought the food was rubbish, would never go back - Udon still needs an Indian !

The curries at Le Gallery are good, have to agree with DM, probably the best I've had in Udon to date.

Re: Having trouble with Lazada refund

I have the same experience as kopkei, I've used Lazada hundreds of times now, i tend to go to them before trawling the local stores to get most things these days and I've never had an issue returning things, the chat line has worked well for me when I've needed it.

Re: Farmed Norwegian Salmon World’s Most Toxic Food

We have started to grow our own Tilapia, we have quite a few now. When we were starting out we were advised to make them all males by messing with the hormones in their food to make them grow bigger, we opted to just leave them to grow into what they were meant to become and grow how they should. So...
