Re: TAX on Income from Abroad

@sometimewoodworker No need. At least you advance the understanding of this issue unlike the constant complainers. Thank you However you rather confuse me with the statement Wow where did you get this idea? You've come full circle. You went from alluding to this being a form of tax evasion several ...

Re: TAX on Income from Abroad

Ah the speculation and supposition and educated guesswork plus the conspiracy working well, petty arguments about what will or not be taxed, plus other weird ideas that may or may not affect some or all. Bottom line if the Thai tax experts do not know anyone on here is just talking for the sake of ...

Re: TAX on Income from Abroad

Where is it stated 'Savings' are not taxable. The correct question should be “ Where is it stated that Savings' are taxable” The tax is on income generated after 1/1/2024 It does not reference money transfered as taxable (though the RD may claim tax on it and require you to prove it isn’t taxable a...

Re: TAX on Income from Abroad

I do believe, at this point, there is enough guidance from the Thai Revenue Department to plan ahead and possibly minimize any tax burden. That is true for those who have no foreign income. However I think the majority do have either foreign income or foreign funds being remitted into Thailand and ...

...... AND those funds were earned after Dec 31, 2013. That's it. Typo - the year is 2023. Thanks for catching that typo. It's Dec 31, 2023 indeed! @Khun Paul Can you tell us what was posted here that is absolute rubbish? This topic is so consequential that fallacious information should be called o...

Re: TAX on Income from Abroad

It's very simple. It may be a taxable event if you sent a bunch of money to Thailand, and live there for more than 180 days in the calendar year, AND those funds were earned after Dec 31, 2013. That's it. If you have savings, make it easy for the authorities to determine that you sent those savings ...

Re: Crypto-currencies: The future is now

Yup its a complex system. There is the argument that crypto actually uses less power than traditional banking systems but I am not an authority on that. https://www.independent.co.uk/tech/bitcoin-mining-environment-climate-crypto-b1849211.html To me, its is apealing since its decentralized plus bot...

Re: TAX on Income from Abroad

Back on topic... Probably the single best action expat residents could do to prepare for this controversial tax issue is to segregate home country bank accounts in such a way as to clearly show that monies sent to Thailand were taken from savings ie. funds earned prior to Jan 1st, 2024. A separate ...

Re: TAX on Income from Abroad

It looks tax will be owed only if funds brought into the country were earned starting from Jan 1st of this year. If that's true, and one has significant savings sitting in their home country, one could simply claim the money was earned income prior to 2024. By that logic, only when one cumulatively ...

Re: US Constitution prohibits Trump from ever being President again

Maybe its just me, but as I see it, a fella is allowed to hold a rally / gathering to avail his voters of his down fall..Most defeated leaders do it..and they mostly vow to fight on for the good of the party /voters, its typical politics . Some even think they were robbed of victory..I see no engag...

has'nt been found guilty of insurrection, hasnt been arrested for it, or even been to court over it..Just people in power making their own call as to what he did, or didnt do. Re: no masks?

It would seem that the rise in infections across the country is making the Doctors ask for Mask Mandate to be re-introduced, which begs the question just wherre are all the Mask deniers now ?? I do not deny you should have 3 face diapers on at all times. You and the others can wear whatever you wish.

Re: U.S. Politics

Do you think Biden is doing a good job? I blame him for crippling the oil industry and going from an oil exporter to an importer. Nearly everything moves by truck and oil prices are a BIG part of inflation. The only good thing is that my Social Security will be getting a big COLA raise. I'll take t...

Re: Udon immigration, not busy!

Has anyone recently gone back to Udon immigration during the "under consideration" period for their final marriage extension stamp? Wondering if they are backed up as I'm due to return to immigration on May 27. Really can't afford to wait any longer than the 30 day period. Thanks

Re: Richard Jensen Had a Stroke....Needs Help!

I worked with Richard for over a year at Inlingua in Udon. He seemed to have a good pension and was just doing some part time work to top up his pension I am surprised at the penniless farang jibes. Yeah it makes no sense to assume someone is penniless based on a fund raising campaign. Some of the ...
