Re: RIP Stephen John Richards AKA Foreign Office Steve

Just an update some friends of Steve visited his house today. There are some paperwork problems so his wife is hoping to hold the funeral next Saturday. She wants to have it on a Saturday as most of her family are Government workers. Also it will give her time and Steve's expat friends sort out the ...

Re: RIP Stephen John Richards AKA Foreign Office Steve

Just had a phone call.
The funeral has been postponed due to the paperwork with the British Consulate not being in order.
My apologies for any inconvenience but it appears that the British Embassy strikes again.
Do not know the details so will post further when more info is available.

Re: RIP Stephen John Richards AKA Foreign Office Steve

I have been trying to get the exact location of Steves house. I have been assured of these directions from someone who has been to his home today. You go onto the Sakhon Nakhon road (route 22) at the flyover next to Big C and the eastern ringroad, You drive for 6km and there is a PT LPG gas station....

Re: power fluctuations

Problem is you people have no idea what it is all about! Think I know what's going on! Well a qualified electrical engineer disagreed with that assumption, but whatever, be happy doing your thing. And who is the well qualified Engineer. IT IS CERTAINLY NOT YOU. I remember a saying from my apprentic...

Re: power fluctuations

Problem is you people have no idea what it is all about! Cct breakers are installed to protect the CABLE not the appliance and sized as such. My 80 amp isolators are there for my 15 mm 2 feeders. F@£k it's hard. No helping some people. Never mind, Multinationals including Chevron Thailand paid me t...

RIP Stephen John Richards AKA Foreign Office Steve

I was sadly informed today that Foreign Office Steve lost his battle with throat cancer. He passed away early this morning peacefully. He had been on morphine injections for a while after surgery to remove his voice box and Chemotherapy.. Some of his friends are in direct contact with his wife so ho...

Re: Leave That Money In the Bank - Update

Following up on the OPs question: I am currently using an extension based on marriage. And consider moving to an extension based on retirement, in order to simplify the process. I understand the 800/400/800 THB rule. But I am concerned that I may need to show up at Immigration office several times ...

Re: Leave That Money In the Bank - Update

I was specifically told to maintain 800,000 in my bank account for 3 months after my extension in Udon. I was also told it had to be maintained at 400,000 until 3 months before the extension was due then 800,000. This is probably due to the not nice person who is in charge of the front office. It i...

Re: New Extension after September 26th

Considering they strictly want long stay visitors, and I may be wrong, but the way it is worded there would be no re-entry permit needed because they don't want you to leave the country. Stay for 90 days, then can extend it for two more 90-day periods. I would assume if you left after the initial 9...

Re: Udon Industrial Estate in Non Soong

The basic supply infrastructure is already in place including the existing airport. Right now, any industrial estate is well served for transport access. If the high speed rail link manifests itself some time in the future, then that's a bonus. I agree. If you compare the Infrastructure in place no...

Re: Leave That Money In the Bank - Update

I don't normally wander into the execrable Thai Visa, but while looking at a link on a different thread here, this popped up: Phuket immigration denied my retirement visa renewal for not maintaining an 800,000 baht bank balance 3 months following my first visa. All other visa requirements are in or...

Re: Were to get NON FARMED FISH..

as far as I am aware there are NO species of marine/freshwater fish that cannot be "farmed" ..... Wolf fish are now being farmed in Norway.

AS FAR AS I AM AWARE.
Show the evidence that Wolf Fish are being farmed.
They live in deep cold waters of the Atlantic.

A summary of the fines are shown on the link below. Most will not be enforced the way they should be especially the ones applying to vehicle condition. I have seen some old pickups in the testing stations getting a test certificate when they are in really bad condition. https://pattayaone.news/new-t...

There is another Gas Bottle filling station on the Ring road, (see map below) You turn in immediately before the LPG car refill station about 100mtrs after the Rail Crossing. It has big gates at the entrance. Drive in about 60 mtrs turn right the stop at the gate house. They check your car for how m...

So other countries have their own standards of safety regulations and don't actually follow the SAA requirements, always been told it's better to be safe than sorry and the difference in price between 4mm and 6 mm is minimal. Re: Bank Holidays in Thailand for 2020

Khun Paul is correct as to the logic we think. The other posters obviously have no knowledge as to how Thai holidays for workers (not Govt Workers or Banks etc.) are selected. When i first started working in Thailand a lot of years ago I worked for an American Company who were well established in Th...
