Re: Miscellaneous COVID-19/Corona Virus Discussion, Questions, etc.

As far as I know (assuming that one is able to log on) a yellow card is necessary for Mor Phrom. It might be advisable for someone who does not have a yellow card to present themselves at the local health centre (Anamai). Not sure whether they are open today, but will certainly be open tomorrow.

Re: Miscellaneous COVID-19/Corona Virus Discussion, Questions, etc.

Thank you Mac.

My partner had been trying to use the Mor Prom app on LINE to absolutely no avail. I called Wattana Hospital on 042 219888, spoke to Cherie, sent a copy of my pink card and made an appointment for my jab. It could not have been easier.

Re: Happy St Georges Day

We should also remember those people who were born on this day.

From the UK:

William Shakespeare
J.M.W.Turner

and from just across the pond:

J.P.Donleavy
Roy Orbison

They have all brought joy and heartbreak to lovers of the written word, art, and music.

Re: John le Carré

A sad loss. Following the death of Graham Greene, he was, in my opinion, the best living novelist writing in the English language - and in his later days a fine polemicist. RIP to you and all your literary creations.

The Beautiful Game. Many changes have taken place since Bobby Moore raised the World Cup above his shoulders. The game is now played in front of all-seater stadiums (and once fans are allowed back this will continue). Water-logged pitches are now a thing of the past – even on Hackney Marshes. Dietar...

Re: Peter Green: guitarist and Fleetwood Mac co-founder

Peter Green was, in my mind, the greatest of the graduates from John Mayall's Bluesbreakers.

Maybe Mick Taylor had the greatest technique and Eric Clapton achieved the most fame, but for melodic improvisation, Peter Green was the master.

RIP.

Bicycle Business

I have a mountain bike and a turbo trainer. I would like to put them together, but this task will probably need a few mechanical adjustments. Does anyone know of somewhere in Udon Thani who might be able to help? I have tried the place in Prajak Sillapakorn Road, at a five-way junction, not far from...

Re: Labour's new leader

It would appear that Starmer's appointment of Rebecca Long-Bailey to his shadow cabinet, although seen as an inclusive gesture, was nothing more than a weakish sop to the left. As soon as she was deemed to have stepped out of line she was ditched. What did she do? She posted an Independent newspaper...

Re: Should Politics be allowed in Sport.

The initial question was, ‘Should politics be allowed in sport’? This is a question that I will not address at length, apart from stating that ever since the first Olympic Games at Olympia, like it or not, politics are part of sport. One of your correspondents has stated that up to a few weeks ago B...

So now we have a loose alliance of various anti-fascist groups deemed to be a terrorist organisation. This truly makes one wonder at which direction the idiot in the White House is lurching.

I live in rural Bandung. Yesterday, just before I was leaving my house for a morning walk, the Village Headman addressed us all using the village-wide loudspeaker system. Our Village Headman is not one for making daily broadcasts, therefore all were ears when he started to speak. He announced that c...

Re: Labour's new leader

Having been elected in a democratic vote, my congratulations go to Keir Starmer. He now has to get the party and then the country behind him. It should not be too difficult to get the party's support. If Johnson and his half-witted cabinet continue to make all the mistakes they have made in the firs...

Re: The U.K.'s Christmas Election

A very great man once said, "The language of priorities is the religion of Socialism". That man was Aneurin Bevan. Having read and digested the Labour Manifesto I have had no hesitance in casting my vote for the Labour candidate. Although I am now retired, I was particularly taken by the 'Green Indu...
