Re: Volleyball Tournament

Pervs paradise !!! I can just see loads of dodgy old falang who never venture far from soi sleeze lining up with their tongues hanging out . I went to watch the Jet ski thingy last weekend and was surprised how few falang were there , considering it was free , and well advertised . They always moan...

Re: Are we into a Recession already here in Udon?

I Started noticing it here in NongKhai and down there in Udon about two years ago, quite a few shops shutting down, many not all that old. When I asked people running neighboring businesses what happened the usual reply is "it's the economy, people don't have money to spend" Up here in Nongkers we a...

Re: Is electricity gouging going to end?

One of my Thai neighbors explained to me that Laos has increased the price per kw they are charging Thailand and that's the reason our electricity went up. Anyone else heard that?

If no bags why not walk away and leave them with the messages to stack back on the shelves??
Actually we have seen people do just that, one fellow just walked away and said, "keep it then". I feel bad for the people on motorbikes, what are they supposed to do?

NongKhai Tesco No Bags Problem

The Tesco at NongKhai has been having "no plastic" days, I'm not sure whether this is a nation wide deal or not, but when the wife and I go to the NongKhai Tesco in the mornings on those days then we will receive our goods in paper bags, but if we go in the evenings they are out of the paper bags an...

Re: SetTop Box or Media Player?

Simply disconnect your HDMI cable, and take the laptop with you. I found my STB to be very poor to set up and use, it has been languishing in a cupboard for 3 years. There is, I believe, a HDMI gadget which has wireless connectivity, though I have not personally seen one here. I am with HD pRIME an...

SetTop Box or Media Player?

I have a 49" Toshiba TV that I bought less than one year ago, I did not opt for a smart TV because of the price difference and I didn't think I needed one. Now I am finding that I would like to stream from the internet. I don't want to dedicate my laptop for streaming by hooking up an HDMI cable, so...

Sorry friend...but I think he's gone? He edited his post and added the word "Finished" at the beginning and he also added that he had left Thailand.

Re: Is it time to say bye Thailand?

I've been here for going on eleven years now, and it's a true love/hate relationship. On my bad days I hate the garbage, the driving, the queue cutting, the mean dogs, hearing the word "farang, farang"....but then when I am out for a walk and someone pulls over on their motorbike and asks if I need ...

Re: Volleyball Tournament

My wife is crazy about these volleyball tournaments, watches them on the net all the time. I'm from NongKhai and am not that familiar with Udon, I searched on Tungsrimeuang but didn't come up with much as far as location. Can you give me some help?

Asian Peak Commons area closed

The wife and I are not really much for nightlife, but we like to shop at Asian Peak, which is down the side street behind Tesco, but we noticed recently that the commons area where the concerts were held and the bars and restaurants are has been fenced off. Upon checking we found out that during Son...

Re: the nagas are a fraud

That picture of American Servicemen holding a long oarfish can be found all over the place here, I have seen copies in Northern Laos even! It has been said that it was taken in San Diego in the late 70's or early 80's. The idea that it was taken by soldiers on the Mekong in the war days is false but...
