Re: Foreigners behaving badly
A fair few stories regarding angry or drink Swiss, Brits and "Russians" have featured in Thai media recently. However, this pair of New Zealanders seem to have taken it to a new level. https://www.khaosodenglish.com/news/2024/03/17/two-new-zealanders-are-arrested-for-assaulting-a-phuket-officer/ Ho...

Re: TAX on Income from Abroad
I do believe, at this point, there is enough guidance from the Thai Revenue Department to plan ahead and possibly minimize any tax burden. That is true for those who have no foreign income. However I think the majority do have either foreign income or foreign funds being remitted into Thailand and ...

Re: TAX on Income from Abroad
Not all Expats or Retiree's are Bums sitting around on barstools drinking P..ss all day and talking BS. Some have actually come from knowledgeable backgrounds, have experience in and or are well versed in the international financial banking and tax system. You will never know. Totally agree, pipo. ...

Re: TAX on Income from Abroad
STWW Just a thought Lets say one moves / transfers in enough money in this year 2024, for ones living for next five years and then retires to Thailand on 02 Jan 2025, living comfortably in 2025, 2026, 2027, 2038 and 2029, without having to pay Tax on what he moved into Thailand in 2024. Then when t...

Re: TAX on Income from Abroad
I expect to pay little if any tax in Thailand, as i qualify for about 300,000 baht of Thai tax allowances, apart from anything due under double taxation agreements . However, my current remittance stream is the last step in a series of account transfers in the UK, and it may be hard to provide reas...

Re: TAX on Income from Abroad
Just use a Visa service and you don't need to show income from abroad, or money in the bank. You understand that the service you refer to shows that you DO have money in the bank!!! It is certainly not impossible that the taxation department will assume that the money that seems to be yours, is you...

Well obviously immigration and the Visa Agents have an arrangement to look the other way, why not with the Tax department also.

Re: TAX on Income from Abroad
Only income earned inside Thailand shall be subjected to tax during retirement. Therefore, you will not be obliged to pay any taxes for any income you have earned from overseas. Also, personal income taxes are not required for retirees in Thailand. Note that you can’t work in Thailand while on a re...

Re: TAX on Income from Abroad
I've tried to read 6 pages of this, has the question been asked? Who is going to collect this tax? Certainly not the banks. Garnish 30% off every foreign transaction is ridiculous leaving the customer to reclaim it. Will we go through the 3rd degree at our 2025 extension renewal. Whether it be 800k...

Re: Carrying Passport
Never carry my passport, unless I need it for some banking, or a visit to Immigration. I've been stopped by the Police several times in the past, and my Thai drivers license is all they required. When flying domestically my Thai drivers license has also been accepted in lieu of my passport.
