Re: Why would you want to return to Thailand

It's all got a bit Silly now, more hoops to jump through, goalposts moved, I would definitely not return if it wasn't for my Ole Lady, Seriously looking at shipping her back to the UK and moving to Spain. I know where I'm not wanted. silly question , but what's the difference between her in Thailan...

Re: Why would you want to return to Thailand

Why would I want to stay in Thailand? How about because I like it here. I'll be staying until they BBQ me or somehow force me out. That's a good reason, if I could return I would probably like it too but that seems unlikely. Perhaps I should start a new thread and emphasize the returning aspect. Th...

Because it's a relatively safe place to be during the pandemic. https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/map.html Accurate stats depend on reliable data, certain countries withhold information for what ever reason. Many countries are not up to speed on Testing, if there's no testing how can Stats be accurate. A...

If the problem is down to the Transformer upgrade, neighbours (if you have any) will be experiencing similar problems, unless they too have earthing issues.

Re: Car detailers

Thanks Joe, I can sleep easy now. Sounds like a UK equivalent of Car Valeting. Detailing is a little bit more than a valet, they'll take out swirl, remove old polish, fix minor blemishes etc, use a coating to protect the paint that lasts as long as 5 years etc, it's usually what high end car sales ...

Re: Car detailers

So is Car Detailing a posh word for Car Valeting, Car Cleaning or is it more Detailed? Maybe a drop of Polish? Oil Change, Brake Overhaul.
What should I expect from a Car Detailer?

Re: Plywood sheet standard sizes

No problems getting it from Global or DoHome or wherever, just need to know the sizes. However, if anyone knows a shop with a 'special' on plywood right now, my inner Jockinese will appreciate it. Ta tam You have the sizes above. Plywood is priced by quality, there are no bargains in plywood, if yo...

Re: Plywood sheet standard sizes

Global House website will help, I've bought 8 x 4 (1220 x 2440) and 1200 x 2400 depending on where it has been sourced.
Different grades/timber species/thickness available depending on the purpose.
Best to shop around as prices vary.

Re: Cashless Society on its Way?

Contactless payments with Debit and Credit cards is now the new normal in the UK. Many businesses do not take cash any more. The Merchant pays approx 1% of the transaction cost, inevitably passed onto the consumer. No matter how small the transaction cost, contactless has been forced upon us. Just a...

Re: Dollar is now completely worthless!

It's s long while since I visited Cambodia, is the Dollar still the currency of choice? Maybe it's now the Yuan or Bht. It's sort of, a dual currency system in place, with the USD being preferred for transactions, with change often given in the Cambodian Riel. The Riel to the USD is has been very s...

It's s long while since I visited Cambodia, is the Dollar still the currency of choice? Maybe it's now the Yuan or Bht. Yes USD still rules in Cambodia (Phnom Penh), or it did when I was last there in February 2020, for a short trip. Even ATM's dispense nice clean USD notes, at least down along the...

Makes you think, back in the UK waiting for Thailand to open up, what I would like to know is where are all the Doctors, Hospitals empty, GP's unavailable, A and E departments empty, Cancer treatments and Routine Ops put on hold, Where are all these wonderful people and what are the doing? Is it the...

Who knows, Leicester hasn't been on my travel itinerary, you would have to ask a local. To fog the issue further, on the day I departed Swampy maybe it was "let's all wear a mask day" so, hands up, my observations and conclusions could paint a false picture.
You could always Google it.

Re: Farangs who don’t wear face masks should be kicked out of Thailand says health minister

Back in the Uk now, got out just in time I think, very rarely see a mask. [ Redacted ] When I left 3 weeks ago 90% of travellers and all staff at Swampy were wearing them. Remains to be seen which country's population made the correct decision. 4 months down the road from when I left on the 3rd Mar...
