Re: Cambodian Visa
As with all countries, Cambodia has a range of visas to suit various needs. However, for anyone considering living and or working here, particularly first-time visitors, the 30-day VOA provides a sensible starting point. While here, it will be possible to investigate a range of options, such as reti...

Re: Cambodian Visa
I’ve often been asked, “how much does it cost to live in Phnom Penh” With so many variables, and people’s personal requirements, there is no simple answer, but let’s try to uncover some helpful guidelines for those who may intend living here. Where to stay Like any large city there is a vast choice ...

Re: Cambodian Visa
Almost everyone requires a visa to enter Cambodia and that is usually with a 30-day tourist visa. I understand that the visa on arrival, not evisa, can be extended once only, for 30 days without leaving the country. However, as requirements can change, get the 30-day visa and ask at the immigration ...

Cambodia visa
BobZubali » January 2, 2024, 8:45 pm Kenneth, Are business visas still available on arrival at PP airport? (especially of the ongoing extendable kind) Answering the above question set by Bob, the answer nowadays, is likely to be no. However, it costs nothing to ask, but I should not be surprised if...

Re: Visiting Cambodia
I’ve often been puzzled by those doing visa runs, in such a hurry, that it appears to be a race against time, simply to see who can be out and back the quickest. Like many countries, Cambodia has a 30-day tourist visa. I fully appreciate that some will be unable, or unwilling for various reasons, to...

Re: Visiting Cambodia
To realise a childhood dream to visit Angkor Wat, I made my first visit to Cambodia some 20 years ago. I liked it so much, promised myself to return as often as possible. Following several visits from Thailand, I decided to settle here, about 4 years ago. In general, I have found Cambodian people b...

Phoning home
How things have changed ! It was September 1958, just leaving for school, when a young lad on a bicycle knocked on our door to deliver a telegram. Telegrams often brought bad news, and this was no exception. It was from my maternal grandmother to say that her husband, my mother’s father, had died. T...

Re: Post Office Boxes POB
As previously mentioned, I attempted over many years to obtain one of these boxes, but at every stage, met with a no, don’t know, see the person at the next counter or make an appointment to see Somchai, when he returns from his extended holiday. Not wanting my life to revolve around POBs, I put the...

Post Office Boxes POB
Post Office Boxes (POB) In Thailand, experiencing the vagaries of postal deliveries, I though it a good idea to rent a post office box. Back In 2005, when I registered my business, I considered it even more important to have a secure means in place, for my local and international mail. However, desp...

Re: Monthly expat meetup?
Oh dear, I thought this was all about looking for somewhere for a friendly chat. So far the concept of "friendly" appears to have been lost along the way. I believe my suggested venue to be ideal but of course, a different venue each month may promote some variety, but it needs those interested to g...

Re: Monthly expat meetup?
Ya can’t live in the past. Go along and take a look at the place at the end of my soi. Have some beer and perhaps mull over previous times but think about the future. BTW, You could get some mugshots, might come in handy for those who easily forget who they met in the departure lounge. Fuzzyken, wit...

Re: Monthly expat meetup?
For anyone's interest, this is the link to the old club: https://www.udonexpatsclub.com/sponsors#h.wgz6rgxy40c0 Those of us that attended the club meetings, will recall that it was quite an enterprise. Coffee, cookies, minutes and guest speakers etc. A far cry from when a few of us met in the old pa...

Re: Monthly expat meetup?
Jackspratt's excellent Google image is the place, and was open in January, and I would be very surprised if no longer operating. I think the massage place Tennyson mentions, is somewhere further down, but not in our soi. Perhaps a delegation could be charged with making a fact finding visit, followe...

Re: Monthly expat meetup?
I’m sure it will be large enough to accommodate all shapes and sizes, without radical modification. Weight watchers and bird watchers can rest at ease. It was along time ago when Lars and Richard, sadly both RIP, drew up the constitution, following difficulties with the original expat club. Meetings...

Re: Monthly expat meetup?
Yes, this is the large, open-air place on the corner, close to the Paradise Hotel. Sorry that I have no photos, and since I'm currently in Phnom Penh, unable to take any. For those interested, go take a look, have a beer and perhaps cross the road and say Hi to my Lek, in our bookshop. Best wishes, ...

Re: Monthly expat meetup?
Soi Paradise, where I have my book shop, has a large open-air bar/restaurant almost opposite. Just across the soi from my bookshop. No problem parking and appears to be no problem smoking. If you want to watch TV for football etc, just ask. It is a Thai place, owner very friendly, rather than farang...
