Re: Udon Thani Hospital for Non Immigrant Medical Check

Has anyone from UK ever had a valid unexpired Non O In their passport and applied and got an O-A I’m thinking of doing as I now only will be staying 6 months Thanks You probably won't find anyone who has had that situation. I've never heard of anyone having 2 current visas. Most likely if they will...

Re: 200,000 baht fee to work in Japan

YOU ARE NOT THAI! YOU DO NOT WORK FOR THE GOVERNMENT HERE!! So keep your Expat Advice to Expats getting work in Japan. Leave the Thai people to go to the right Government Department to find out their options. Seriously I care less how much time you spent in Japan or whereever you have lived. Your a...

Re: 200,000 baht fee to work in Japan

Instead of "my wife" said this or "cousin Din" said. Here is the actual link to the Udon Thani Gov site. https://www.doe.go.th/udonthani/ I am not sure this is an expat thing or whatever here. If you are going to talk legit info... Hearsay is hearsay. Post actual links to legit information.. Experi...

Re: 200,000 baht fee to work in Japan

I would contact the Japanese embassy or immigration. I know some Thais get ripped off by so called agencies charging fees to work in other countries. Probably the best route would be to apply directly for a work permit through Japanese immigration. You need a job waiting for before you can get a wo...

Re: 200,000 baht fee to work in Japan

SWMBO has worked on and off in Japan for about 10 years. There are certainly agencies who are genuine who may have those rules, they may also be able to offer jobs paying that kind of money, though it seems a little high as a starter. The conditions certainly don't apply to everyone. No visible tatt...

seem to recall mention of legionairs disease when cleaning em
That usually only applies to standing water or the very big AC units that use water cooling for the outside units.

Re: Opening Bangkok Bank new account

I am not confusing Non-OA visa with extension of stay "OA based on retirement/extension of stay". Please notice the extension of stay, I understand perfectly well the difference. You may well understand the difference however your wording is conflating the term related to the visa and the extension...

Re: Opening Bangkok Bank new account

1st why would I want to do marriage? I have work pensions and VA disability income well over the monthly amount required for OA based on retirement/extension of stay and OA based on marriage has many hoops to jump through. Plus marriage anywhere is never guaranteed to last. I would never put 400,00...

Re: Opening Bangkok Bank new account

My understanding is that as of now is that Bangkok Bank is the only one that TransferWise shows as a foreign transfer. It usually does according to reports. However TransferWise state very clearly they transfer money domestically, so while you may get transfers showing as international at any time ...

Re: Marriage Visa

Hi, I have been married here in Thailand over 8 yrs now. may be looking at a divorce soon and am wondering , can you just do the Thai marriage cerimony at the local Ompur and will this be accepted for the marriage Visa, instead of having to go though your home country and all the paper work, like I...

Re: Marriage Visa

Concerning the visa based on marriage, I first applied in Loei immigration. The officer there tried his best to discourage me from going that route. He told me that would require a lot of paperwork and that I would have to supply pictures of us together, our clothes closet and a map to our house. A...

Re: Marriage Visa

It would seem the political brigade are in , A visa extension ,is the common term used by most , when in actual fact it's an extension of permission to stay (365 days ,) ,but at the first one ,your are actually getting permission to stay (most 365 days ) on your expiring non O visa etc , Hoopoe wro...

Re: Thai immigration reveals new requirements for retirement, marriage extensions (visas)

I take it when you retire you'll have to wait a year before you can live here as you won't be able to show 12 monthly payments through your accounts. No that isn't the case as detailed on page 1 going on to page 2. In the first year of retirement (say October) payments starting in November are acce...
