Re: THe Chinese are Coming, The Chinese ae Coming!!!

I have relatives whose short break to Chiang Mai was not so enjoyable, because of the behaviour of Chinese visitors.

Re: Bangkok protests

Look for articles by Pasuk Phongpaichit....... I just read a couple of her articles from the website, which go back nearly 20 years. Her summaries suggested then that with developments around that time, there was some cause for optimism and hope on democracy and tackling corruption. Some were being...

Re: 90 Day Report Online

Thanks very much, Bandung Hero. Sorted now. The page you referred was what I was looking for. I'd seen it before but couldn't access it second time around. Online is straightforward, when the system works and I imagine it would save some applicants long drives.

Re: 90 Day Report Online

Going into the Udon office for a 90 day notification is not usually a hassle - in/out in a few minutes normally. But, thinking the office may still be busy (and I witnessed the crowds in passing a while back), I thought I'd try online again. And success, with the Chrome browser, but this time I had ...

It's alleged that after a Scunnie win(ok, it's not that often) DM's exercise does involve springs, but not from a trampoline. ;)

Re: LCD backlight repair for LG flat screen telly

I appreciate the cost will probably be higher at a 'proper' shop, but unless it's closed or relocated, there was a bona-fide LG service centre between Big C and Makro. I had to have my large LG tv repaired there, quite soon after purchase.

If the trampoline is not already sold (Bill is quick!), please give me a call 086 219 2217. A friend would like to go see it
Sorry, was sold today. Brian

Re: school fees

My understanding is that the extra days involve only three Saturdays this month, at least at present. My office contact, if I understood correctly, suggested that the school might not be observing some of the usual stoppages, in an effort to recover lost teaching time. She hadn't bothered to produce...

Trampoline for sale....... NOW SOLD

For sale, 12 feet diameter quality trampoline in excellent condition. Bought 6 years ago for 14,000 baht, asking price is 5,000 baht now. The trampoline has seen only minor use, as it’s been kept in storage except during the one month holidays the owner (sister-in-law to me) has been here each year....

Re: Golf Cart

Just to say I've seen quite regularly a lady using a cart to take a kid to school here in Phen. It doesn't look as 'sporty' a model as the one in the photo, more traditional look I'd suggest. She crosses the main junction, close to two large schools, the police station and traffic police controlling...

Re: Loei

If it helps and only my opinion. We spent a few nights with Chiang Khan as a base a few months back. I had originally booked a hotel in Loei City itself, but concluded that the city itself didn't offer much in the way of attractions although, having been there on several occasions previously, there ...

Re: How to Boost Your TOT Internet for Free

I did go in to the main TOT office, whilst in Udon yesterday. Communication was a bit of a struggle, but I certainly believe the advert you highlighted was intended for Bangkok and nearby. We're talking fiber optic here. My understanding is that here you can increase your speed to more than 300/300,...

Re: boat racing at Nong Prajak

Spend an hour there this pm, waiting for school pickup. Good entertainment and fun. Male/Female teams from all over the country and various types of boats in use. Appears to be well organised, even a Happy Toilet bus ( which UDFC is unable to sort out for their games!). Numerous food stalls. The roa...

Re: How to Boost Your TOT Internet for Free

TOT offering Gigabolt(!) now from 590THB. We got it, only goes to 300mbps tho, might be the older router we have. Still OK tho. https://www.tot.co.th/gigabolt-ads I need to check this still by popping into TOT, but I'm not certain this is a new promotion, or that it applies to the Udon area. The da...

Last week the daughter gave a printed note to the wife. This morning we had to drive to the school for my wife to receive 300 baht. Asked her why this was and answer was "Government give back". Just imagine if Dragons claims about lack of integrity and total corruption in the school system were cor...

Fortunately, at least at present, neither I or the family need regular medication, but I have a friend and his wife who do. Very recently, they were talking about the pharmacy near Global and were very positive about the prices there.

Re: Bangkok Bank letter/statement + Bank Book Update

Thanks for your contribution sometimewoodworker. I feel suitably reprimanded and can now tell the difference between a letter and a bank statement. My excuse is that as I receive both from my bank at the same time, dated same day, I suppose I regarded them as a joint process. So, it seems that as ma...
