Re: covid-19 mask

I've a short break booked to Chiang Rai at the beginning of May, flying VietJet direct from Udon. Still 'on' at the moment. Found this on the Hanoi-based website. "Notice of using face masks on flights and at airports (Vietjet, Ho Chi Minh City, March 14, 2020) – For ensuring the health and safety f...

Re: Picture Frame

Maybe you're sorted already, but I've had several paintings framed by a shop on the road linking the fountain and Prince Prajak roundabouts.

Re: Coronavirus Now in Thailand !!

New inbound passenger checks kicking off tomorrow at Thailand's international airports. https://www.bangkokpost.com/business/1875989/inbound-arrivals-face-mandatory-measures We should be grateful that some information has surfaced. It says ALL inbound passengers will have to provide the personal in...

Re: Coronavirus Now in Thailand !!

I was opposite the Army Hospital today. A large notice outside apparently included Germany as one of the high risk countries. Yet, I haven't yet seen Germany mentioned in any of the Thai news. Members may have friends or relatives recently arrived at Suvarnabhumi, so let's see if I can get some defi...

Re: Coronavirus Now in Thailand !!

An extract from an article in the Bangkok Post and I think, a guy who should know what he's talking about. The government appears to have lost the support of one vocal and loyal supporter, former Thammasat University lecturer and marketing guru Seri Wongmontha…….. In a Facebook post on Sunday, Ajahn...

Re: Coronavirus Now in Thailand !!

Is it too much to hope for (probably) that the Thai authorities can coordinate informed, clear information on what’s expected of foreigners entering the country in relation to the virus? Whilst appreciating things may have to change, what is the policy/what are the requirements now? The Bangkok Post...

...... The Thai DL renewal place moved in there maybe 2 months ago.
Wasn't aware of that and I didn't spot it when in there today. On what floor in Central? And where from? - the one at AEK?

Re: Car Hire Options

UD Car Rent, out by the airport, served me very well, once for several weeks hire, the other very recently for a couple of days. 1100 baht recently for very clean Vios. Longer rental, if I recall, open to negotiation. Delivered and collected the car where I wanted both times. I THINK both these numb...

Re: Is it safe to breathe?

I bumped into a new, farang UDFC player the other day next to Central, literally his second day here. One of the first things he said was that he was glad to be out of the Bangkok air. He had recently been playing in Scotland, so the heat is something else to experience.

Re: VietJet Udon-Saigon?

Again I'm 'drifting', but it does concern Vietjet. Actually promotion fares Udon to Chiang Rai HAVE reappeared. 300 baht the basic, but the usual add-ons for checked baggage etc. But three of us there and back with 20Kg each for under 6,000 baht seems pretty good to me.

Re: Visa Extension

Brian, Did you use an Income letter from Embassy that was issued before they stop giving out? No. I used the normal letter and bank statement from the local branch of my bank. But, as I said, with the possible issue of where the money came from being raised, I had additional, comprehensive evidence...

For a moment I thought they'd covered the part of the pitch in sand, but see the volleyball area is at the side of the stadium, a distance from the main stand.

Re: Visa Extension

Just a heads up here which may be helpful, particularly to those extending on a marriage basis, when you're required to present two sets of papers to Immigration. Make sure you take original copies of documentation e.g. like the updated Kor2. I made the error of using my colour printer to take copie...

Re: VietJet Udon-Saigon?

I'm checking daily to see whether the Vietjet Udon to Chiang Rai flights are to be extended into April and the school holidays - an excuse for a short break. A rep, whether accurate or not, advised that schedules often change early into the New Year, so it's looking unlikely now. I appreciate it's ...

Need to produce ID when paying utilities.

Again, sorry if this has already featured in/as a topic. Is it a new thing that I.D's are being requested at outlets where you can pay utility bills? My wife tells me that this was the case at our local Tesco's. I understand it applies to Thai as much as foreigners. What's the thinking here? - to ch...
