Something nice for 400 a night?

Know any decent rooms at that price? Nana place is great but I would like a change next time, and 590 is affordable but I'm on a budget and saving would mean more to spend on food+travel.

Top Mansion - but usually full.
Ruysuk - but a bit of a walk to the 'centre' of town.

Thanks Bob.

Any ideas of bargain rooms without aircon? Say 250 baht?

They are certainly around, but most have Thai only names & I do not read Thai, sorry.
There are a couple a stone's throw from Nong Sim but you would really need to get around them & ask if they have vacancies & costs.
Some basic Thai would almost certainly be needed & I am not certain that the word 'nice' would really apply.. :D

I am unsure how much the Back Packers near the Bus Station charges for their dorms..

A bit of cardboard in the doorway of seven eleven seems to be the preferred option, although this does have intermittent aircon as people go in and out of the store

Advertisement in Accommodation section:
The Station – Backpackers Accommodation

Sampantamit Road, Maakeng, Muang, Udon Thani, Thailand, 41000

The Station Budget backpackers accommodation in Udon Thani is a unique idea created by the owner of the Irish Clock. It's based on a train theme with 14 beds in a carriage with privacy curtains, fans, toilets, communal showers, TV and free internet.
Also, hasn't Fuzzy Kens got cheap rooms with fan?, someone may like to confirm that.

Sorry OT that backpacker place no longer exists, the ground floor is now a massage parlour I believe. I have no idea what the 2 floors above have become.
I don't believe that the rooms above Kens' place have been rented out for some years now.

That's good, Udon can do without backpackers. We only want " Quality Tourists" with pockets full of money.

This place is only a year old, very spacious, quiet setting. On the road that runs behind the train station. Usually has rooms available 500b per night. Need transportation to town, but its cheap and readily available. I've refered several people here.

Perfect mansions was great value at 380, walking distance to the night markets etc.

I also found a place for 350. Shame I found it the night before I will depart. Anyway it's called Suksun. They have coin laundry and auto motorbikes for 150/ day. 2 useful things. The rooms are decent all round.

if you go on agoda.com there are an absolute glut of budget hotels in this price range. rarely
however, are they within walking distance of downtown. and ones downtown are usually full. 8-[

Suksun is on Adunlayadet Soi 5.

You can't miss it as this is the same Soi on which Le Country Grill is located.
