The "American Social" spaghetti feast went well yesterday and attended by 11 people. Next month's luncheon will be at TJ's. Contact me by PM if you want more info.

Although we are officially closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, we are available for catering your private party or will open our place for groups of 10 or more for a special event. At least a weeks notice please.

The Cajun Gumbo was a huge success and we promise to do it again soon! Thanks again to the donor of the file' powder (essential for making this dish authentically "Cajun"). This weekend's special TBA. Stay tuned.

Come join us!

This weekend's special...
Chicago Style Hot Dogs! =D>

Thanks to a customer and friend, we have a limited supply of Nathan's and Vienna brands ALL BEEF frankfurters (about 24). "Chicago" Jim is leaving for the States next week, so this is in his honor. Anyone wanting to say good bye to Jim should drop by around lunch time Saturday.

This is how one person on a culinary website described "Chicago Dogs":

"The Chicago Dog is a Windy City classic, and a big favorite with sports fans! The frank must be all-beef, the bun must be poppyseed, the ingredients must be piled onto the bun in the order specified. And whatever you do, don't spoil the splendor with ketchup!"

We've gathered all the proper ingredients, sans poppy seed buns. If anyone is growing poppies in there garden and would like to donate a few seeds, it would be much appreciated. ;)

They should look something like this:

Jun has done a fabulous job with these, even steaming the buns as many of the vendors in Chicago do (according to Jim). Still have a few left... Get 'em while they're hot!!!

Yes, we have again posted our business for sale. It is for personal reasons and nothing to do with a problem with the business, our landlords, the neighbors, or any perceived "competition". Please be assured our business will operate as normal until a sale takes place, and even then I'm sure Jun and I will be hanging around during any transition period. It is my sincere hope that someone will want to continue what we have started here. Before "Chicago" Jim left last week he sort of summed things up with a group of people here when he said, "If this place closes it will be like losing our club house".

Happy Halloween!!!

France wants to ban Halloween masks similar to the above because they are just "too scary"!

By popular demand, our Memphis Style dry rub ribs are again available... NOW! Served all weekend, or while supplies last. Full rack or half rack, served with our AWESOME potato salad and BBQ beans. Sorry, no extra sides of potato salad or beans are available as we have just enough to serve with rib orders.

Anyone coming in today "in costume" will get a free drink with their meal order.

Come join us!

Dennis, my thanks to Jun for an excellent supper. The potato salad was superb, as good as I have ever tasted, as was every thing else. I had to explain those were real baked beans, not canned. The ribs were devoured. It looked like a pack of soi dogs when we started eating. Thanks from all of us.

If for some reason you don't sell all, save me a full order, put in freezer/fridge, I'll pick up next week. I finished off the rib portion last night, even the wife said good and she does not like farang food.

LOY KRATHONG @ Bubba's Bar & Grill (Sponsor)

Post by BigBubba » November 5, 2014, 12:03 pm

Tomorrow, Thursday, is Loy Krathong. This has always been a big event for us in the Nong Prajak Park area. Big fireworks display and of course the lantern launchings (which float over towards the airport  ). Two years ago we had the rare thunderstorm for this time of year and we were jam packed with people trying to get out of the rain. We wont be offering the free boats this year because Jun's 87 year old grandmother is not up to making them any more.

We've got a fresh batch of BBQ pulled pork just out of the slow cooker. Goes great with our awesome cole slaw!

Hot cornbread will be coming out of the oven about 7PM. ;)

Come join us!

Tonight's the night! Plenty of parking behind our shophouse as Rabiang Patchanee has cleared all the debris that was stacked up back there, in effect doubling the size of usable parking area. You may have to pay a small fee for parking tonight, unless you arrive before 5PM. That's about when the attendants start manning the place. Also, large paved parking parking lot to the side, across from 7/11. Usually no attendants there, but tonight they might take advantage of being able to make a few baht. After 7PM you wont be able to park a car within blocks of here. Fireworks usually start between 8 - 9PM at the park and are easily visible from our place (and without having stuff fall on your head  ).

Somewhat of a scaled back Loy Krathong celebration last night. Less fireworks and far fewer lantern launchings than in the past. The new leader(s) seem to be damping celebrations of all types, including those that involve imbibing, but yet I see new ads on TV trying to promote tourism.

This weekend's special, starting tomorrow, Saturday... Split Pea and Ham soup. This is the AndersEn's style that was such a big hit the last time we made it. Served with cornbread or a soft roll.
