Well, its less than a month now till the start of the 2014/15 English Premier League season.
The first match is Manchester United v Swansea which kicks off at 6.45pm Thai time on Saturday,16th August.
As for predictions for the forthcoming season,I can look no further than predict that Manchester City will retain their title.
The next 6 teams (in alphabetical order =; ) will be Arsenal,Chelsea,Everton,Liverpool,Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
I reckon that Newcastle,Stoke and Sunderland will be good enough to make up the rest of the top half of the table.
Of the remaining 10 teams, any of them could end up being relegated but,if pushed,I would predict Burnley,West Brom and Aston Villa.
Obviously, after coming 15th out of 22 in the World Cup Predictions League,my predictions arent to be taken lightly !

Note to the MOD's: I think this topic should be in World Sports not Open Forum ?
socksy was obviously distracted by the "yellow bikini thread" when he set it up ! :D

I fancy this to be Chelseas season. To finish where they did last time out without a decent striker was some achievement. They have an outstanding midfield and if Costa clicks they will take some beating.
City to finish 2nd if they find a big enough cake to keep Yaya happy.
LVG has it good. Last season was all about life after Fergie and the pressure on Moyes, this time out the new managers role is repairing the damage done. Still need a few more signings and more important a clearing of the dead wood Nani, Anderson, Young and Nani again. Very little to cheer about last time out. Not just the defeats but the gutless nature of them.
I reckon another campaign of frustration for the Gunners. Despite Wenger being flash with the cash this summer it won't be enough for them to mount a serious challenge.
As for Liverpool, mixed emotions with life after Saurez. The guy was a complete nutter but on his day truly a football genius £75m is a lot but perhaps he's irreplaceable for them. Add to that an ageing Gerrard and I reckon a long season of disappointment. Ever the optimist :)

Meanwhile north of the border I'm looking forward to watching the mighty Queen of the South in possibly the biggest ever season for Scottish 2nd tier.

After my prediction about who would be champions after the first matchday last season, I should maybe keep my prediction to myself this time, but I will say that I think Van Gaal will do a much better job than Moyes... ;)

I think that it is hard to look past Citi as the winners.
Pellegrini was new to the Premiership last season & he made some mistakes at the start. He swiftly learnt from them though & they still won the thing. They have strengthened a squad that was already far superior to any other. If Ya Ya has his way & goes it will be a blow, for about 5 minutes... :D

Chelsea will be there abouts but Mourinho will still be looking to win every game 1 nil. He has made some good purchases but I am not convinced that he will turn them into a good attacking team.

Same old from Arsenal...they can put 11 on the pitch who can beat anybody. However as soon as injuries & suspensions take their toil there is just no back up.

Pool will suffer because of the extra matches from Europe. Suarez will undoubtedly be missed. Gerald will need to carry them all as he has done since he started playing for them.. That can't continue & his personal form for England was poor so he needs to pick himself up again..

United... Season of change I think but no European distractions will undoubtedly help.
What will become of Wayne?? I think United will be a far better side coming out of this next season than going into it.. Maybe next year... :D :D

We`ll see. :D I`m very sure that top 3 will be United, City and Chelsea, but in which order I`m not sure. United`s advantage will be that they don`t have a European distraction.
But there will be a lot of transfers in EPL until the window closes on the 1st Monday in September (I think), so our predictions might change then.

West Ham's Andy Carroll has torn ligaments in his ankle and could be out of action for four months.
The former Liverpool player, 25, is set to have an operation on Friday in the United States.
Carroll picked up the problem on the Hammers' tour of New Zealand, reporting a sore left ankle in training.

Thankfully that should put off any interest from The Toon.

FYI the sport365 system works perfectly in the UK and at a fraction of the cost of the alternatives.
Only downside is it streams approx 2 minutes behind real time so flicking to latest scores to be avoided.

EPL refs are going to use "Vanishing spray" this season (Joey Barton beware  ).

Perhaps they will mark where a "throw in" needs to be taken from as well.

Well the BBC have dug deep to find good pundits for this season. I think only Gullit is a worthy signing.

Ruud Gullit, Philip Neville and Rio Ferdinand are joining Match of the Day as it celebrates its 50th anniversary.
Former Netherlands international Gullit, 51, and ex-England duo Neville and Ferdinand will be part of a team which will also include Alan Shearer, Robbie Savage and Danny Murphy.

Latest odds for the Premiership title (William Hills)

Chelsea 15/8
Manchester City 5/2
Manchester United 9/2
Arsenal 6/1
Liverpool 10/1

Bit surprised at Chelsea being the favourites, thought City would be rated top dogs for the title.

Those out of favour with the bookies.....
Hull 5000-1
Leicester 5000-1
Crystal Palace 5000-1
QPR 5000-1
West Brom 5000-1
Burnley 7500-1

Villa only 2500-1 with William Hills....think they will struggle to avoid relegation.
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.
