Snakes..

Postby KB_Texas » May 14, 2012, 8:03 am

Ok, you folks that have been here for a while may be able to answer this for me...

The other day I moved a snake that was about 2 feet long from our place into the ditch outside. It was grayish-brown with small black bands forming small diamonds on it's back. I did not have time to take pictures as I was busy moving it, so have nothing to show.

This morning I moved one that was about 5 inches long, which I suppose to be a baby/juvenile. It was also grayish-brown with small, fairly solid black bands around it (no diamonds) and a black arrowhead on it's neck and head. Again, no pictures as I just want them away from the house.

Any idea if these are ones to worry about or not?

KB

PS...neither of these appeared to be very aggressive...they just wanted to be away from me as much as I wanted them away from the house.

Snakes..

Been a few snakes about recently. saw 3 on tuesday, and had to kill 2 today. One was a decent sized brown kukri snake in the toilet. My wife goes nuts over snakes, always wants every one killed. She thinks all are dangerous. Do not like killing snakes, but with a 1 year old kid in the house, have a zero tolerance once inside. Brown kukri is non poisionous but can give a nasty bite; we get about 2 a year in house or garden. probably due to clearance of next door plot for building over the weekend.
Next, had some British customers on the fishing lakes today but they found a snake in the toilet there. Not one i had seen before, but it was green so killed it in case it was a green pit viper. Have now identified it as a green cat snake - venomous but rear fanged so 'nearly' harmless.

Both can be seen on the 'Siam-info'' site shown a couple of links up
