Tree identification - is it legal?

Postby gardener » April 11, 2012, 11:30 am

I have several established trees within my boundary, I know what most of them are except one. My neighbor says that it's against the law to grow this type of tree, apparently when the leaves are dried they have hallucinogenic properties.

Does anyone know what it might be?

It looks possibly like a well established 'Kratom' tree... in which case, it is illegal to grow in Thailand.

Sure looks like kratom....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kratom

If it were me, I'd hack it away.....lest some neighbors come sniffing around your yard for an easy fix.

Thanks for the information Stevo, that looks very much like the tree in my photo. I wonder what the penalty is for having one of these on your land?

Contact the Puyaibahn to call the fire brigade to cut it down and dispose of it.
